1) Features
There are agreements and conventions between the postal departments of various countries. Through these agreements and conventions, mail parcels from various countries can be delivered to each other, thus forming an international parcel transport network.
Advantages of postal parcels: The postal network basically covers the world, which is wider than any other logistics channel, and the scope of delivery is wide. Postal channels are generally state-owned, relying on the postal system, with strong customs clearance capabilities and very cheap prices.
Disadvantages of postal parcels: There are obvious size restrictions, requiring them to be within 2kg, no more than 60cm on one side, and no more than 90cm on the sum of the three sides. They are only suitable for light and small goods with light weight and small volume. The price is cheap, the timeliness is slow, and it is easy to lose the package.
2) Classification
Postal parcels are divided into surface mail, registered mail and E-mail.
Of the three, ordinary mail is the cheapest, and its delivery time is the slowest. The only information about the goods delivered is online, but there is no tracking information, which makes it inconvenient to track the goods. There is no compensation for lost items, so ordinary mail is suitable for the delivery of goods with low value and no timeliness requirements.
Registered mail is more expensive than ordinary mail, but its delivery time is also faster than ordinary mail. It has a stable delivery time, and the goods are tracked until they are delivered. There is compensation for lost items. It is suitable for the delivery of relatively valuable and light small items with low timeliness requirements.
E-mail is a logistics method tailored for cross-border e-commerce. The freight is generally cheaper than registered mail, but more expensive than ordinary mail. The delivery time is similar to registered mail, and the goods are tracked in detail (close to express delivery). It comes with delivery information, and there is no compensation for lost items. It is suitable for sellers who want to save on shipping costs.
