First, log in to the Shopify backend, click the “Settings” → “Checkout” button, and the following points will appear.
(1) Customer account. I recommend selecting the “Account Login (Optional)” radio button. This means that customers can either register an account before purchasing, or purchase directly without registering. My experience is that customers attracted through Facebook ads and Google ads rarely register an account. If they think the product looks good, they will buy it directly.
(2)Customer contact information. It is recommended to select the “Customers can only check out via email” radio button in the “Checkout” selection.
Because if you select the “Customers can check out using phone number or email” radio button, then you most likely won’t get the customer’s email, which is okay for the customer, but not good for the seller. Because you need to get the customer’s email in order to contact the customer and do email marketing, and foreigners are more accustomed to communicating by email rather than by phone.
In the “Receive shipping updates” selection, it is recommended to check the “Customers can still choose to add a phone number or email after completing the order to receive shipping updates” checkbox. If the “Customers can download the Shop app from their order status page” checkbox is checked, the customer will be asked to download the App. Many people may find it troublesome, so this checkbox does not need to be checked.
(3) Form options.
In the “Full Name” selection, it is recommended to select the “Require last name and first name” radio button. This is mainly to avoid credit card fraud. In the “Company Name” selection, it is recommended to select the “Optional” radio button so that customers can fill in the company name or not. My experience is that the vast majority of customers leave their home address and rarely leave their business address. In the “Address Line 2 (Apartment, Unit, etc.)” selection, it is recommended to select the “Optional” radio button. Because some clients live in apartments and some don’t. In this way, no matter what the situation is, they can completely fill in the delivery address and submit it to avoid incomplete address information causing problems during delivery. In the “Receiving address phone number” selection, it is recommended to select the “Required” radio button, because if the address information is incorrect, the logistics provider may need to contact the recipient through the phone number. In addition, the customer’s phone number is collected , which is conducive to audience matching in the Facebook advertising backend.
(4) Tips. I suggest not checking the box. After all, tipping in European and American countries is mainly for restaurant waiters, hotel waiters, etc.
(5) Order processing process. It is recommended to use the default options for all options here. Both checkboxes in the “Customer Checkout” section are checked to make it easier for customers to fill in the shipping address. After selecting the “Do not automatically ship any items in the order” radio button in the “After paying the order” selection, if there is an order, all orders that have not been shipped will display “ufulfill” (unfinished) in yellow. After checking the box in the “After order has been shipped and paid for” area, you can quickly see how many orders have yet to be shipped.
(6) Email marketing. It is recommended to check all the boxes so that customers agree to receive your marketing emails by default.
(7) Checkout page language. Be sure to use the mainstream language of the target market you are selling to. If your target market is North America, choose English.
