Who is this reader for?

With its wireless design and optional countertop stand, the Tap, Chip, & Swipe Reader is a versatile reader for both mobile and brick-and-mortar stores. You can charge the Tap, Chip & Swipe reader before taking it to trade shows, markets and pop-up shops. If you have a brick-and-mortar store, you can combine the reader with the optional countertop stand to create a sleek, clean checkout counter and keep it charged at all times.

EMV and Liability Shift

Because the EMV standard shifts liability for purchases, retailers, not banks and credit card payment providers, are responsible for costs associated with credit card counterfeiting and fraud. This means that in any case where you process a credit card with a higher level of security with a lower level of security (for example, if you process payments using a magnetic stripe on a card that also has a secure chip), you are liable for fraudulent purchases.
