One of Amazon’s rules is that sellers are prohibited from having two accounts in the same location. Amazon enforces a “single account” policy to help buyers reduce their exposure to bad sellers. If sellers can open new accounts at will when their performance declines, they receive complaints or negative reviews, buyers may be misled into purchasing from bad sellers. At the same time, this also creates an unfair competition environment for other sellers. By understanding the reasons, solutions and avoidance methods for linked account violations, sellers can better deal with this problem, which is described below.
1. Reasons for linked account violations
Amazon has not publicly stated the specific factors that determine whether a seller has linked an account. Generally, sellers can use the following points to check whether two different accounts are linked.
(1) IP address
IP is the English word for Internet IP is the abbreviation of Protocol, which means “protocol machine for interconnection between networks”, that is, a protocol designed for computer networks to communicate with each other. What sellers see every day is that every networked PC needs an IP address to communicate normally. For example, we can compare a “personal computer” to a “mobile phone”, then the “IP address” is equivalent to a “telephone number.”
If a seller uses the same computer’s IP address when logging into two different Amazon accounts, it is likely that Amazon will detect that the associated account has violated the rules.
(2) Corporate information
Corporate information includes the legal representative’s ID card and business documents. If a seller uses the corporate information of the same company to register two Amazon stores, it is likely that Amazon will detect that the associated account has violated the rules.
(3) Email address
Email address refers to the email address used by the seller when operating an Amazon store. If the seller uses the same email address to associate two Amazon stores, Amazon will detect that the associated account is in violation of the rules.
(4) Bank card account
The bank card number refers to the bank card number used by the seller to collect and pay on the Amazon platform. One bank card number cannot be used for collection and payment on two Amazon stores, otherwise it will be detected as a violation of the associated account.
