1. Lunar New Year

The Spring Festival is an ancient traditional festival in Vietnam. It is also the grandest, most lively and most important festival of the year. It symbolizes unity and prosperity, and carries the Vietnamese people’s new hope for future life. The Spring Festival in Vietnam is similar to that in China in many aspects, but it also has its own special customs.

In Vietnam, at the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, towns and streets will start to buy and sell various New Year supplies. There are many New Year goods that need to be prepared for the Vietnamese Spring Festival, including food, decorations, and sacrifices. Among them, the indispensable traditional foods are square green New Year dumplings and round glutinous rice cakes. The Vietnamese believe that the square New Year dumplings symbolize the earth, while the green symbolizes vitality, and the round glutinous rice cakes symbolize the sky. Together with the New Year dumplings, they mean “the sky is round and the earth is square”. These two items embody the Vietnamese people’s good wishes for good weather, good harvests, and good luck in the coming year, so they are also commonly used offerings during the Spring Festival.

The three most popular decorations for Vietnamese people during the Spring Festival are kumquat bonsai, peach blossoms and five-fruit plates. They are indispensable in the local flower market in Vietnam, and cross-border e-commerce can take some business opportunities in this regard.

In addition, some sacrificial or New Year supplies, such as New Year paintings and couplets, are also good choices for exporting to Vietnam on the eve of the Spring Festival.

2. Independence Day

Independence Day (Chinese translation) is also called “Independence Day” and “National Day” in Vietnam. The importance of this festival in Vietnam is comparable to that of our National Day. Independence Day was established on September 2, 1945. It is the day when Chairman Ho Chi Minh issued the Declaration of Independence and the day to commemorate the death of Ho Chi Minh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Workers’ Party. Therefore, another identity of “Independence Day” is “Ho Chi Minh’s Death Day”.

On this day, Vietnam will hold a grand military parade and parade ceremony. Citizens of Ho Chi Minh City will gather at the Qinghui Bridge to enjoy the fireworks. To celebrate the arrival of Independence Day, the Vietnamese government will even grant amnesty to some criminals.

Some products with Vietnamese image, such as the Vietnamese flag and national emblem, are good choices during this period.
