Sellers who choose to “open a store in North America” can sell products in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and only need to register one account to sell in these three markets.
The Amazon Global Selling Program provides sellers with two options: Professional and Individual. It should be noted that regardless of whether the seller is a company or an individual, they can choose between these two sales plans. Of course, the specific fee structure of the two plans will be somewhat different.
(1) Monthly rent
This fee is only required to be paid by sellers who choose the “Professional Selling Plan”. However, if the seller registers a North American joint account, he only needs to pay the monthly rent of US$39.99/month for Amazon’s US site, and does not need to pay the monthly rent of US$39.99/month for the Canadian and Mexican sites.
(2) Single-item sales fee
This fee is only required to be paid by sellers who choose the “Individual Selling Plan”. Sellers need to pay US$0.99 to the Amazon platform for each product they sell, regardless of the transaction amount of the product.
(3) Sales Commission
This fee applies to all sellers. However, the sales commission percentage and the minimum commission per item vary according to the product category.
Amazon will choose the higher of “unit price x sales commission percentage” and “minimum sales commission per item” as the sales commission amount charged to sellers. For example, if a maternity and baby product with a unit price of $5 has a sales commission percentage of 15% and a minimum sales commission per item of $1, then the sales commission charged by Amazon for this maternity and baby product will be $1 ($5 x 15% = $0.75 < $1).
Overall, the store opening fee structure paid by sellers in North America to Amazon consists of two parts: one is the monthly rent or unit sales fee charged according to the sales plan selected by the seller, and the other is the sales commission.
Specifically, in the personal sales plan: product price + shipping fee paid by the buyer – sales commission – $0.99 per item = the total amount deposited into the seller’s account.
In the Professional Selling Plan: Product price + shipping fee paid by buyer + gift wrapping fee paid by buyer – sales commission – $39.99 per month = total amount deposited into the seller’s account.
