How to effectively contact buyers for reviews on Amazon

In the Amazon marketplace, buyer reviews are crucial to sellers’ sales and rankings. To motivate buyers to provide positive reviews, sellers need to adopt an effective communication strategy. In this article, we explore some of the ways sellers can contact buyers to request reviews while complying with Amazon policies.

Request buyer reviews directly

The Amazon system will automatically send a review request email to the buyer, but the seller can also proactively request it. Sellers should use the Order Details page in Seller Central and look for the Request Review feature. Using this feature, sellers can send review requests to buyers within 5 to 30 days after the order delivery date. Only one request can be sent per order. It is important to note that requested content must comply with Amazon’s relevant policies, and contact may not be via email or the seller’s messaging service with the buyer.

  1. Repeated requests for reviews or feedback on the same order may not be made in any form as repeated requests are against Amazon policy.
  2. No compensation, including discounts or free merchandise, may be offered for reviews; only positive reviews or requests for paid reviews should not be solicited.
  3. Buyers may not be asked to modify or delete existing reviews.

Use the timing of delivery to increase the probability of evaluation

For brand sellers who have completed registration, Amazon allows them to interact directly with buyers when they receive the goods to increase the probability of evaluation. This can be achieved in two ways:

  1. Attached brand information card: Sellers can attach cards with brand information to their products, including the brand’s official website, contact email, and social media account information. This approach not only allows buyers to contact the brand when they have questions, but also helps build brand image. In addition, the card can also guide buyers to use the Amazon shopping app to scan the Transparency barcode on the product packaging and access the brand’s own QR code scanning landing page to check the authenticity of the product and easily leave comments.

  2. Scan code review link: After buyers scan the Transparency barcode, they will be directed to the brand’s specific landing page, where they can directly rate and leave comments. On this page, sellers can provide additional content such as videos and discount information to provide more value to buyers, increase the chance of reviews, and increase brand awareness.
