I. Market Overview

As a major trade exhibition country, Germany has both historical traditions and current development momentum. The first International Sample Fair held in Leipzig, Germany in 1895 is known as the originator of trade exhibitions.

Germany is located in the heart of Europe and has a highly developed economy. In Germany, you can find world-class exhibitions in almost all categories. For example, the world’s largest exhibition with a net area of more than 600,000 square meters – the Munich International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, Mining Machinery, Engineering Vehicles and Construction Equipment Exhibition (bauma). The German exhibition industry subdivides the social and economic industries into 99 exhibition themes, and each exhibition theme is divided into several branches, covering almost all industrial product fields and social service industries.

For example, the construction industry is subdivided into old building repair, elevators, building ceramics, construction machinery, building materials, building materials machinery, roof construction, windows, glass processing technology, interior design, ceramic production, elevator manufacturing, marble, house repair, sun protection, stone, road construction, doors and other branches. Frankfurt, Cologne, Hanover and other cities not only have the world’s largest exhibition halls, but their exhibition companies also have many world-class exhibitions, and their strength should not be underestimated.

The data of the “Top 100 Trade Fairs” in 2012 show that the proportion of German exhibitions has always been far ahead. In 2008, Germany had 62 seats in the world’s top 100 trade fairs. After that, it declined slightly with the rapid development of emerging exhibition markets such as China. In 2019, Germany still had 50 seats. It can be seen that Germany occupies half of the world’s popular large-scale trade fairs and is the world’s number one exhibition country.
