The work in the import negotiation and contract signing stage mainly includes price inquiry, price comparison, bargaining, and contract signing.
(i) Price inquiry and price comparison
Generally speaking, in international trade, most exporters send quotations, but there are also cases where importers take the initiative to inquire. Importers usually receive many quotations, catalogs, samples, etc. of similar goods, and need to compare prices, and select several exporters who are interested in further negotiations to respond in order to reach a deal.
(ii) Bargaining
Quality and price are the most important factors in the basic conditions of the transaction. Importers generally require good quality and low price. With the improvement of consumer consumption level and the enhancement of purchasing power, importers should take quality as a prerequisite for transactions. Generally speaking, the buyer and seller have to bargain several times before they can finally reach an agreement and determine the terms of the transaction.
(iii) Contract signing
After the buyer and seller reach an agreement, the importer needs to sign an international goods sales contract with the overseas supplier and a sales contract with the domestic purchaser.
