eBay has many channels for attracting traffic. Here we mainly introduce two types: one is eBay’s internal traffic entrance, and the other is eBay’s external traffic entrance.

1. eBay internal traffic

(1) Platform traffic. In order to support and take care of new sellers, eBay’s internal mechanism will give new accounts 20%~30% of traffic. Sellers can be active, and eBay’s platform will naturally maintain trading enthusiasm. The logic from buyers to sellers, and then from sellers to the platform allows eBay to maintain high profits.

In addition, in order to increase seller activity, eBay will also tilt traffic to sellers’ newly listed products. No matter what form the seller adopts, the new product will be effectively exposed within 48 hours, and there will be an assessment of the activity of new products. From this perspective, if a seller lists more than ten new products every day, it will naturally increase the exposure of the store and increase traffic.

Of course, the traffic heat of the platform’s main categories will be much higher than that of other categories. The additional natural traffic given by the platform will make the main categories more popular. For example, even when major categories are experiencing a sales slump, the sales of related products in the “auto parts” category promoted by eBay can still maintain a high growth rate.

(2) Auctions. Among all the sales methods on the eBay platform, auctions have always been the fastest way to place orders. Through low-price auctions, you can quickly gain rankings and popularity. Even if the auction results of the same product are good, you can increase the fixed price.

(3) Promotional tools. By using promotional tools, sellers can launch preferential discount activities to gain more exposure and thus attract buyers. The Markdown Manager in the promotional tools can promote individual products, and the Promotions Manager can promote the entire store, such as the common 20 yuan off for purchases over 100 yuan and buy one get one free activities.

(4) Promoted Listings. Promoted Listings is actually a paid advertising promotion service of eBay. It pushes the seller’s related products to buyers based on the buyer’s search or appears in a prominent position on the search page, thereby increasing the visibility of the products and allowing the seller to be widely promoted and exposed on the platform. Through the series of processes where buyers click on the Promoted Listings ad to enter the seller’s store and complete the transaction, the seller can clearly see the service effect of the Promoted Listings ad and pay the corresponding fee. The fee needs to be set by the seller in the background according to their own needs, which is generally 10%~20% of the product price.

2. eBay off-site traffic

(1) YouTube and other video sites. Currently, YouTube Internet celebrities are popular all over the world. eBay sellers can promote their products or stores by cooperating with Internet celebrities.

(2) Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. Through social media, you can create a circle of friends for promotion. As long as the word of mouth is affirmed in the first-level circle of friends, the second and third-level circles of friends will naturally form independent word-of-mouth publicity.

(3) Other media websites, etc. In today’s cross-border e-commerce boom, grasping the traffic is equivalent to seizing the opportunity. Sellers on both sides of the traffic entrance need to pay close attention to it in order to continuously attract traffic to the store.
