1. Poor quality listings
1) Incorrect product category settings
If the seller sets the product to the wrong category, the product will be removed from the system when it is discovered by the platform for the first time. If the product category is still the wrong category after the seller has modified it, the product will be deleted by the system and a corresponding penalty will be generated. If the seller uploads the product to the wrong category for the third time, the product will be deleted by the system and the seller will receive a penalty score greater than 1 point.
Handling method: The product will be removed from the platform when it is discovered for the first time. If the setting is still wrong when it is uploaded again, the product will be deleted and points will be deducted.
[Example]
Seller A placed a women’s skirt under the men’s clothing category, and the product was temporarily removed from the platform. The seller put the women’s skirt under the women’s shirt category and uploaded it again, then the platform will delete the product and the seller will also be penalized.
2) The act of repeatedly listing products
Repeated listing refers to listing products with exactly the same information or exactly the same or highly similar important attributes multiple times in the same store or different stores. There must be obvious differences between the listed products (such as pictures, titles, attributes, descriptions, etc.), otherwise they will be considered duplicate listings. Products that are duplicated between the same seller’s stores and between different sellers will be deleted by the platform and penalized.
[Example]
①Sellers list the same product in different stores. Sellers should only sell the same product in one of their stores (not multiple stores). If a seller lists the same product in different stores, it will be considered a duplicate listing.
②List the same product in different categories. For example, publishing the same smart watch in both the “Mobile Devices and Accessories” and “Watches” categories is also a duplicate listing. Sellers should choose the category with the highest relevance to the product being sold for listing.
③Slightly adjust the product information (such as pictures, titles, prices, attributes, descriptions, etc.) and then upload it repeatedly.

Wrong approach: List the same product at different prices.
Correct approach: The same product can only be listed once at one price. If the seller wants to run a promotion, the promotional price of the product can be adjusted through the “My Discount” function in the Seller Center.
[Example 2]
Incorrect approach: The same product can be listed separately after slightly adjusting the product information. Correct approach: The same product can only be listed once.
[Example 3]
Incorrect approach: The same product is listed separately with different specifications and prices.
Correct approach: Products with different attributes of the same product (such as slight differences in size or color) should be uploaded as one product. Sellers can reflect these classifications by adding product attribute parameters.
[Example 4]
Incorrect approach: The same 3C accessories suitable for different models are listed separately.
Correct approach: Products with different attributes of the same product (such as slight differences in size or color) should be uploaded as one product. Sellers can reflect these classifications by adding product attribute parameters.
④The following situations will not be considered as duplicate listings
When the same product has multiple models or styles and cannot be listed together, the seller can upload multiple separately, but it is necessary to ensure that the same model or style is not listed repeatedly.
3-guided pricing
The behavior of sellers setting too high or too low prices to get more exposure, but not actually selling the displayed products is called misleading pricing. Product accessories should not be listed separately, but should be listed together with the product as products with different attributes of the same product.
Handling method: The product will be deleted directly and points will be deducted.
[Example 1]
The seller will be deleted by the system if the product price is set far below (such as 0.10 yuan) or far above the market price of the product (such as 9999).
[Example 2]
When selling a mobile phone set, a mobile phone (valued at $750) and a mobile phone case (valued at $10).
Wrong practice: $750 mobile phone, $10 mobile phone case.
Correct approach: $750 phone, $760 phone + phone case.
4) Abuse of keywords/brands and attributes
If the information contained in the product does not correspond to or is not relevant to the product being sold, it will be considered a spam product. In order to prevent sellers from abusing keywords to mislead searches and affect buyers’ browsing experience, the Shopee platform will notify sellers to re-edit the product. If the product fails the quality inspection again, it will be deleted.
Handling method: The seller will be removed from the shelves after being notified for the first time. If the product fails to pass the quality inspection again, the product will be deleted and points will be deducted. Repeated violations may result in the seller’s account being frozen.
(1) Abuse of keywords/brands.
① The product title contains multiple or irrelevant brand names/keywords, such as “Women’s Pants Skirt Shirt” and “LANEI Dior SK-II Moisturizing Cream”.
② Keywords unrelated to the product appear in the product title, such as “Dell Monitor | Not Asus Samsung LG TV”.
(2) Abuse of attributes.
① Brand names are repeated or multiple brands appear, such as “Nike Nike Nike” and “Nike Puma Adidas”. ② Brand attributes are inaccurate, such as “Chinese brand”.
③ Other attribute information is inaccurate, such as writing “hot selling” in the product attributes. 5
① Follow the product title format recommended by Shopee: brand + product name + model. For example, Innisfree Green Tea Serum (怡诗风吟绿茶乳液).
② Make sure all keywords in the title and description are accurate and relevant to the product being sold. Do not include inaccurate/irrelevant keywords in the product title.
③ Enter accurate product classification attributes, including brand name, model and warranty period. ④ If the product has no brand, please select “No brand”6
In the product pictures posted by the seller, the product occupies <70% of the picture area. Sellers should ensure high-quality product pictures to bring buyers a better shopping experience.
2. Prohibition of posting
1) Prohibition of listing and selling goods
The cross-border sellers on Shopee platform are prohibited from selling the following goods.
① Goods that are not allowed to be sold online in various countries and regions.
① Goods that are only allowed to be sold by sellers with local business licenses in various countries and regions.
③ Goods that are prohibited from being sold by customs in various countries and regions.
Handling method: The goods will be directly deleted and corresponding penalty points will be generated.
2) Posting advertisements or selling non-physical goods
The pictures of goods posted by sellers contain content watermarks that lead to external platforms. For example, sellers post QQ numbers, QR codes or any other external website links in pictures to direct buyers to trading platforms outside the Shopee platform.
Handling method: The goods will be directly deleted and penalty points will be generated.
3) Replacing different goods under the same product ID
Shopee platform does not allow sellers to replace different goods under the same product ID. The platform will regularly clean up related illegal goods. If the seller changes the information of the existing product A (such as name, description, picture, etc.) to the information of another completely different product B, this behavior will display the original rating and evaluation of product A as the rating and evaluation of product B. This will lead to buyers’ misunderstanding and judgment of product B.
Different products refer to: products of different categories, such as backpacks and water bottles, shirts and pants; different models of products of the same category, such as backpacks of different brands.
If the products are of the same category and the same model, but the colors are different, they will not be judged as “different products”. Handling method: The product will be deleted directly and the corresponding penalty points will be generated.
[Example]
Wrong approach: Replace the product page of toys with the product information of high heels.
Correct approach: Create a new product page for product B and fill in the relevant information of product B.
Common questions are as follows.
①The previous product (mobile phone case) is sold out. Can the mobile phone case be changed to a lady’s bag? Answer: No.
Answer: No. This behavior belongs to the replacement of different products under the same product ID.
② Can I change iPhone 6 to iPhone 7?
Answer: No. Changing the product model belongs to the replacement of different products under the same product ID.
③ Can I change the color of the product for sale?
Answer: Yes. Changing the color of the product does not change the type of product for sale.
④ Can I change the model showing the clothes in the picture?
Answer: Yes. If the product for sale does not change, the product picture can be changed.
⑤ Can I change the product price and modify the product name/description?
Answer: Yes. If the product for sale does not change, the product price, name or description can be changed.
4) False discount
Standard 1: If the seller increases the price of the promotional product within a period of time before the promotion, he will be warned. In serious cases, the price increase product will be deleted.
For example, if the price of product A is 100 yuan, and some time before the event starts, the seller raises the price of the product to 120 yuan and then sells it at a discount, the seller will be warned, and in serious cases, the price-increased product will be deleted.
Standard 2: If the discount price set by the seller is higher than the original price of the product, the product will be deleted.
For example, if the price of product A is 100 yuan, and some time before the event starts, the seller raises the price of the product to 110 yuan. If the price of the product is 101 yuan at the beginning of the event, the product will be deleted because the discount price is greater than the original price (101>100).
Handling method: The product will be deleted and the corresponding penalty points will be generated.
3. Infringement of intellectual property rights or counterfeit goods
If the seller is complained of infringement for the first time, the Shopee platform will remove the corresponding infringing products. If the seller is complained of infringement again, the Shopee platform will temporarily freeze the complained seller’s account for 7 days. If the account is complained of infringement again after being unfrozen, it will continue to be frozen for 7 days. And so on (the number of infringements will be accumulated from March 27, 2017).
For sellers who have committed serious violations or have accumulated too many infringements, the Shopee platform may directly close the account of the seller who has been complained.
[Note]
If the preferred sellers in Taiwan are reported or found by the Shopee platform to have published infringing or pirated products, if they provide valid proof of authenticity in time, they will retain their preferred seller status and will not be penalized. If the relevant sellers fail to provide valid proof of authenticity in time, they will be disqualified as preferred sellers and their penalty points will be affected.
4. Re-listing similar illegal products
If the seller violates any of the following listing rules, the products that violate the listing rules will be deducted 1 or 2 penalty points after being deleted (the “counterfeit products that infringe intellectual property rights or trademark copyrights” on the Taiwan site will be deducted 2 or 3 penalty points). If the seller lists similar illegal products again, an additional 1 penalty point will be deducted.
5. Cross-border sellers and local sellers repeatedly posting goods
Shopee platform Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia stations, cross-border sellers and local sellers repeatedly posting pictures, product titles and product descriptions more strictly. The implementation standards and time for other stations will be notified separately.
1) Taiwan Station
Shopee Taiwan Station sellers who use other sellers’ product pictures as their own product pictures or other sellers’ product information as their own product information without permission will be judged as stealing pictures or stealing product information. Once reported and verified to have stolen pictures or stolen product information, the seller’s store may be recorded 15 penalty points in the seller penalty system.
2) Thailand Station
If sellers on Shopee Thailand Station are monitored and confirmed to have repeatedly posted other sellers’ products, the duplicated products will be deleted and 1 penalty point will be recorded. Serious duplicate postings will be recorded 2 penalty points. If the number of duplicate listings of sellers reaches a certain standard, 15 penalty points will be recorded and the account will be frozen for 28 days.
3) Malaysia Station
If sellers on the Shopee Malaysia Station are monitored and confirmed to have duplicate listings of other sellers’ products, the duplicate listings will be deleted and 1 penalty point will be recorded. Serious duplicate listings will be recorded with 2 penalty points. At the same time, if there are serious violations after manual inspection, the store will be frozen.
6. Reporting theft of product information on non-Taiwan stations
This policy applies to sellers and their stores who have been complained of stealing pictures and product information, and does not apply to the act of repeatedly listing products.
Shopee sellers who use other sellers’ product pictures or other sellers’ product information for their own products without permission will be judged as stealing product information. The Shopee platform will notify the review results by email every Friday. If the report time is Friday, the review results will be notified on the following Friday.
【Note】
Using pictures and product information provided by the product supplier or third-party platform for all sellers who purchase the product will not be considered as stolen pictures, but there should be no watermarks from other platforms on the pictures. For non-original pictures, please keep the relevant proof of the legal use of the pictures.
There are two situations for reporting stolen pictures or product information.
①Single product stolen pictures or product information: Report the number of products that have stolen pictures or product information from the same store is less than 30.
Handling method: The store that is reported for the first time must make rectification within 7 natural days. The store that is reported for the first time and fails to make rectification within the deadline or the store that is reported for the second time will be frozen for 15 days. The store that has not completed the rectification within the 15-day freezing period or the store that is reported for the third time will be permanently frozen
②Stolen pictures or product information of the whole store: Report the number of products that have stolen pictures or product information from the same store is equal to or more than 30.
Handling method: The first reported store must make rectification within 7 natural days. The first reported store that fails to make rectification within the deadline or the second reported store will be frozen for 30 days. The store that still fails to complete the rectification within the 30-day freezing period or the third reported store will be permanently frozen.
7. The product title cannot contain keywords related to Shopee activities
The product title cannot contain keywords related to Shopee activities, related violations and handling methods.
8. Requirements for listing adult products or underwear/pajamas
① General sex toys, inflatable dolls and other adult products should be placed in the adult/restricted area category. If the seller does not put the above products in the specified category, the products will be directly deleted and penalty points will be generated.
② The requirements for listing general sex toys, inflatable dolls and other adult products are as follows. a. All adult products should belong to the adult category.
b. The first picture of adult products should only show the product itself (including packaging) and should not include a human model or product usage.
c. All images/models/models must not have sexually suggestive movements or behaviors. d. All images are not allowed to demonstrate the use of sex toys.
e. All images are not allowed to show nudity (whether it is a human model or a doll), especially private parts. If the seller violates the above listing requirements, the product will be directly deleted and penalty points will be incurred. ③ The requirements for listing underwear/pajamas/breast stickers/swimsuits are as follows. a. Models/models can be used as the first picture. b. All images are prohibited from having sexually suggestive poses.
c. Nudity is allowed (whether it is a human model or a doll), especially private parts. Unqualified products will be directly deleted and penalty points will be incurred.
d. When the model’s picture is covered by retouching/mosaic/chest stickers, please make sure to completely cover the entire part, and the products can only be placed in the adult area. Products that do not meet the requirements will be temporarily removed from the shelves. If the category is still wrong when uploaded again, the product will be deleted and penalty points will be generated.
