When opening a store on Amazon, sellers should master a lot of terms and abbreviations so that they can immediately know what it means when they see the relevant rules of the platform. For example, Amazon UPC is a common abbreviation, but there are still many novice sellers who don’t know what UPC means and what is its use?
What is Amazon UPC? UPC is a product barcode composed of a 12-digit code called “Universal roduct Code”, which is mainly used in the United States, Canada and other regions. Each Amazon UPC code is unique, and most products require sellers to fill it out when uploading products in the United States. In other words, if there is no UPC code, the product cannot be put on the shelf for sale. If the seller’s product does not have a UPC code, it can be obtained in these three ways:
1. Official channels. There are two ways to say that Amazon UPC official purchase channels: one is the official designated dealer, and the other is the real official channel. We should distinguish them by ourselves to avoid being deceived.
2. UPC code generator. There are many UPC code generators on the market now, which can produce a large number of UPC codes for sellers for free. However, the risk of this method is relatively high, because the generator usually has no certificate, and the possibility of repeatedly generating UPC codes is relatively high, that is, it may have been used by others, which will bring unnecessary trouble.
3. Purchase through third-party channels. Another way is to join the Chinese commodity barcode system, but it requires corporate sellers to apply, and they need to provide business license registration number and organization code, which will charge a certain fee.
If it is a seller with brand record, there is no need to submit UPC code to upload products, just fill in key attributes directly; and some products that can apply for trade project exemptions do not need UPC code. When filling in the UPC code, you should also pay attention to the following:
1. The UPC code corresponds to the SKU of the product, that is, how many SKUs you have, how many UPC codes you need.
2. After uploading the UPC code, it cannot be changed or used for other products.
3. The same SKU can use the same UPC code on different sites.
Amazon UPC code is also an important information, so if you don’t want to postpone your product listing, sellers should obtain a valid UPC code through compliant channels. After filling in correctly, the product can be put on the shelf for sale. When purchasing UPC codes, we must make more comparisons and choose reliable third-party channels to purchase. Of course, it is best to find an official channel.
