Many sellers on the Amazon platform may find that in the past few months, more and more sellers have had their accounts closed for abusing Amazon products. In fact, this is not because there are more sellers abusing Amazon variations, but because Amazon has taken more regulatory measures to ensure that sellers release products in accordance with regulations.
So what does Amazon variation mean?
According to Amazon’s official definition, Amazon variation refers to a set of products related to the parent and child. That is to say, Amazon variations can be divided into child and parent. Different listings can be connected into a brand new listing through a parent. The parent is like a rope that holds all the children together. And the returns, Q&A of each child will be added up and reflected on this new listing, including the entire reviewrating star.
In fact, there is no difference between variant products. More specifically, variants are products on the same product detail page. Usually, these variant products have only 1 to 2 differences. But it should be noted that in the case of variants, in most categories, a keyword can only correspond to the best performing variant.
For example, the seller has a product with five colors. With variations, you can put five different colors of products on the same product detail page instead of publishing five different product listings separately. Products with different colors are called variations.
Of course, sellers should also note that even if ASINs share a detail page, sellers still need to enter product information for each child ASIN and provide corresponding photos.
Many seller friends do not have enough knowledge of how to use variations reasonably, and use variations incorrectly, resulting in performance notifications or even suspension of sales permissions. What does abuse of variations include?
Amazon abuse of variations includes the following:
1. Changing the product detail page (parent product or child product) to make it completely different from the original product.
2. Changing the parent product detail page so that it does not match the child product.
3. Adding wrong child product variations that are not true variations of the parent business, including but not limited to:
a. Adding products that are completely different from the parent ASIN.
b. Adding product images and/or names that are completely different from the parent ASIN.
Adding new versions or new models of products that belong to the parent ASIN.
4. Add multiple assembled variations of existing parent products that are not created by the manufacturer:
A. If the seller creates some information that is not sold directly by the manufacturer, the seller must match the product information to the same detailed page as multiple products. If there are no identical multiple product detail pages, the seller must create a new product detail page with the unique UPC of the product.
b. Add multiple packaged products by bundling two or more products from the same manufacturer together, such as bundling two or three packaged products together to create one or six packaged products. Multiple packaged products must be packaged by the manufacturer. If the buyer wants to buy two or more of the same products, he can choose the quantity he wants to buy
5. Merge zombie listings.
Good variation relationship product information allows buyers to compare and select options provided on the product detail page based on different attributes, including size, color or other characteristics. Generally, the following requirements need to be met
a. The products are basically the same
b. The products differ in only a few specific aspects
c. Buyers want to find all these products on the same product page
d. The products can share a product name
The above is some relevant content about Amazon variants. Sellers need to know: Good variant relationship product information allows Amazon buyers to compare and select products based on different attributes through the options provided on the product detail page, so sellers should avoid abusing variants to avoid having their accounts blocked and affecting subsequent business.
