With the continuous development of the cross-border e-commerce market, Amazon’s official website has released a series of announcements on major policy adjustments. In order to better operate the store, let’s take a look at what policies have been released.
1. New storage capacity management policy.
Since March 1, 2023, Amazon has officially implemented a new storage capacity management policy. The unified Amazon Logistics storage capacity replaces the original replenishment limit and quarterly storage limit. The new policy mainly covers four major changes:
1. Merge replenishment limits and storage limits, adopt a single Amazon Logistics storage quota, and a single limit for each storage type will determine the inventory that the seller can send and store to the Amazon operation center;
2. IPI evaluation becomes once a month, and the corresponding restrictions are also updated once a month, each valid period is once a month;
3. In addition to the storage capacity that has been determined for the next month, Amazon will also provide the estimated storage capacity for the next two months;
4. When storage capacity is insufficient, sellers can apply for additional storage capacity through the storage limit manager, and submit up to 5 applications per month.
2. High return rate label.
In March, Amazon launched a high return rate label. The specific criteria are as follows:
1. If the return rate of the seller’s product is higher than the average return rate, Amazon will calculate the average return rate of the product’s sub-category;
2. If the product belongs to the last 25% of the average return rate of the sub-category, the detail page will be labeled with a “high return rate” label;
3. Only products with more than 250 completed delivery orders in the past 12 months will be affected by the label.
3. Rectify the front-end search box.
On the one hand, Amazon divides the local delivery network in the United States into eight regions, storing frequently ordered items in each region to achieve localized transportation; on the other hand, Amazon has adjusted the platform search page on this basis, that is, products with closer storage locations will be displayed at the top of the buyer’s search results.
4. Account verification changes.
On May 11, Amazon US released the latest announcement: The US Consumer Notification Act will take effect on June 27, 2023. Under this law, third-party sellers with high sales volume are obliged to provide their business information, and Amazon needs to collect, verify and disclose this information.
Amazon will verify the information of all sellers that meet the relevant requirements once a year to ensure the accuracy of business information. This new policy applies to sellers who sell (or exceed) 200 new products (or used products) for 12 consecutive months with a total transaction volume of more than US$5,000.
The above is the new policy released on Amazon’s official website in 2023. Sellers can adjust their store operation strategies in time according to policy changes in order to better operate their stores.
