In 2017, the overall transaction scale of my country’s import and export cross-border e-commerce (including retail and B2B) reached 7.6 trillion yuan. By the end of 2018, the overall transaction scale of my country’s import and export cross-border e-commerce is expected to reach 8.8 trillion yuan. In recent years, my country’s import and retail cross-border e-commerce platforms have been established one after another, and they have continuously improved user experience in the fierce competition, which has promoted the steady growth of my country’s import and retail cross-border e-commerce transaction scale. The proportion of import and retail cross-border e-commerce in the import and export cross-border e-commerce transaction scale will continue to increase.

In 2017, the number of users of my country’s overseas shopping rose to 65 million. By the end of 2018, the number of users of my country’s overseas shopping is expected to reach 74 million. People’s consumption capacity is gradually increasing, and the main consumer groups in the market are gradually transitioning to the “post-80s” and “post-90s” groups. The consumption concepts of these groups are relatively advanced, and the consumption demand for cross-border products is obvious. In the future, the scale of my country’s overseas shopping users is expected to continue to expand.

In 2017, the transaction scale of my country’s export cross-border e-commerce reached 6.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%. In recent years, export cross-border e-commerce has become the backbone of China’s foreign trade development. In 2017, the proportion of my country’s major e-commerce export countries (or regions) was 15% for the United States, 12.5% for Russia, 11.4% for France, 8.7% for the United Kingdom, 6.5% for Brazil, 4.7% for Canada, 3.4% for Germany, 3.1% for Japan, 2.8% for South Korea, 1.6% for India, and 30.2% for others. In addition, emerging markets are yet to be developed, such as Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa, which are in the early stages. Latin America, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are fast-growing emerging markets, and the market for the development of cross-border e-commerce is still relatively broad.
