1. Globality
The basis of cross-border e-commerce transactions is the Internet, which has no borders and is global and non-central. Compared with traditional trading methods, one of its important characteristics is that cross-border e-commerce is a kind of “borderless trade”, breaking through the geographical restrictions faced by traditional transactions.
2. Intangibility
The development of the Internet has made the transmission of digital products and services popular. Digital transmission is carried out in a global network environment through different types of media, such as data, sound and images. These media appear in the form of computer data codes in the network and are therefore intangible.
3. Anonymity
Anonymity mainly comes from the global characteristics of cross-border e-commerce. It is difficult to identify the identity and geographical location of e-commerce users on the Internet. Consumers who trade online often do not show their true identity and their geographical location, but the important thing is that this does not affect the transaction at all.
4. Timeliness
For the network, the speed of transmission has nothing to do with geographical location and distance. In cross-border e-commerce, regardless of the actual time and space distance, the information exchange between one party and the other party is almost simultaneous, just like face-to-face conversations in life.
5. Paperless
In cross-border e-commerce, electronic computer communication records replace a series of paper transaction documents, and the entire information sending and receiving process is paperless.
6. Rapid evolution
The Internet’s network facilities and corresponding software protocols have great uncertainty in future development, and Internet-based e-commerce activities are also in a rapidly changing process. In just a few decades, electronic transactions have gone through a process from EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) to the rise of e-commerce retail, and digital products and services are even more varied, constantly changing human life.
