The returned products in an Amazon Standard account or Amazon Prime account are the same. However, the return policy varies based on the product type and the seller type rather than the buyer’s account.

Here are the things to note when returning: eligibility, different return policies, return time and fees.

1. Items that cannot be returned

Check if the seller’s product is eligible for return. The product page usually tells the seller this. It is also in the options on the seller’s order page. Amazon lists the items and categories that cannot be returned. The list includes groceries, hazardous materials, medicines, software, etc.

Amazon has established multiple return policies. They depend on the type of goods, the reason for the return, and the seller.

Here are the standard procedures, the current policies posted on the Amazon website and the corresponding precautions:

New orders and unused orders can be returned free of charge within 30 days after purchase.

Go to the seller’s order and select the item the seller wants to return.

Select the reason for the return in the drop-down menu.

And the seller’s preferred return method: waiting for pickup, delivery, or drop-off.

2. Amazon Hub Return

If the seller chooses to return through the Amazon Hub, please follow the steps below:

Create the seller’s QR code. Amazon will send the generated QR code of return and further explanation to the seller by email.

Take the item to the Amazon Hub center and show the seller’s QR code without packaging the item.

The Hub will put the return label on the package and then send the seller’s item back to Amazon.

3. Third-party seller returns

If the 3P seller’s product listing meets the requirements of Amazon Prime, its conditions are the same as Amazon’s return policy.

Most third-party sellers need to provide the following options:

A return address located in the United States with a prepaid return label that can be attached to the product;

Provide a full refund without return;

The value of the item;

There are also some other considerations depending on the value of the item the seller wants to return. If your item is worth more than $100, you will need to use Insured Signature Shipping. If the value of the item is over $35, you will need a trackable shipping company. If the value of the item is less than $35, USPS shipping with confirmation is recommended.

Remember, even if you are disappointed with the product, it still has value. If the product is received in poor condition, you will be responsible for the loss. Amazon may not be able to protect you with the A-to-Z Guarantee.
