In modern SNS websites, most of them will reflect the existence of social individuals through the form of “Personal Homepage”, and the content related to the individual will be concentrated on the personal homepage.

And the single information created by individuals is presented in the form of “Microblog”. Compared with the earlier “Blog” form, microblogs are essentially the same, both are “logs”, that is, information units composed of attributes such as title, title image, multimedia text, release time, modification time, content keywords, and categories; the biggest difference between microblogs and blogs is the simplification of text and title, such as the famous 140-character text limit on Twitter, and the omission of titles.

The reason why SNS websites generally use microblogs to express content is the difference between socializing and reading. When we imagine a social occasion, most people will have a “chirping” gathering scene in their minds; and to reflect this social atmosphere on SNS websites, the amount of content must be controlled, that is, social information exchange is high-frequency and small. Generally, such content is often called “fragmented” content.

At the same time, since pictures can express more meanings in less space, a type of picture-based SNS with pictures as the main content form was soon born, such as Tumblr and Imstagram.

If the same principle is followed, then video-based SNS with videos as the carrier should be popular, but the creation of videos is difficult, and the dissemination and viewing will occupy network bandwidth and traffic, which will incur additional costs. Therefore, as of the development stage in 2016, the development of video-based SNS is still not as good as that of picture and text. Most of the video-based SNS that have appeared also control the video playback time within 13 seconds. The reason is that only short videos can keep readers attractive and create a noisy social atmosphere of “chirping”. Once the video is too long, the effect is equivalent to returning from a microblog to a blog, and the social atmosphere will be replaced by a scene of “concentrating attention and reading quietly”.

According to this logic, in fact, it can be considered that “socializing” and “reading” are two opposite network interactive behavior modes. Therefore, as SNS websites become increasingly popular, traditional large-scale reading is not taken seriously by the mainstream SNS groups, which is reflected in the more “impulsive” reading behavior. If the complexity of the information itself is slightly increased, it will be easily abandoned in the social scene, resulting in a decline in the data indicators of the social part.
