(I) Booking: The consignor prepares a container cargo consignment note within a certain period of time before the shipment of the goods, and entrusts its agent or directly applies to the shipping company for booking.
(2) Accepting the consignment application: The shipping company or its agent decides whether to accept the application based on its own capacity, route and other specific conditions, while considering the consignor’s requirements. If the application is accepted, it will prepare a booking list and then send it to the container yard and container freight station to arrange empty containers and handle freight handover.
(3) Issuing empty containers: Usually, the empty containers for full container cargo are collected by the consignor at the container terminal yard. Some cargo owners have their own containers, and the empty containers for LCL cargo are collected by the container freight station.
(4) Packing of LCL cargo: The consignor delivers the goods that are less than a full container to the freight station, and the freight station is responsible for packing according to the booking list and the terminal receipt, and then the packer prepares the container packing list.
(5) Full container cargo delivery: The consignor is responsible for packing the containers and transporting the containers with customs seals to the container yard. The container yard checks the terminal receipt and packing list according to the booking list and accepts the goods.
(6) Exchange of bill of lading: The consignor exchanges the bill of lading with the container transport operator or its agent with the terminal receipt.
(7) Loading: The container loading and unloading area formulates a loading plan based on the loading situation and adjusts the containers to be shipped to the yard in front of the container terminal. After the ship docks, they can be loaded and shipped.
Usually, most of the work in the actual operation is completed by the transport agent.
