VK (formerly VKontakte, Russian: BKorakre, meaning “contact”) is the largest social networking site in Russia, ranked 23rd in the world by Alexa, and is the second largest website in Russia after the search engine Yandex.

VK is a well-known online social networking service website in Russia, with more than 70 languages, and its users mainly come from Russian-speaking countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belarus, Israel, etc.

VK founder Paul Durov reinterpreted the phrase: “BnomHOM KOHTaKre c mopmame” translated into Chinese means “complete contact information”, which is taken from the jingle radio “Moscow Echo”.

Like most social networking sites, the core function of the site is based on personal information and shared photos, providing status updates and contact with friends. VK also has web tools for managing online communities and celebrities. The site allows users to upload and search for news media content, such as videos and music. VK has an advanced search engine that can effectively search for friends and real-time news information.
