The Lyon Light Festival comes from two famous legends, the more famous ones are the “plague” and the “Prussian siege”. The first legend is that the plague that raged in Lyon in the Middle Ages took many lives. In 1643, in order to save the city, local officials and nobles prayed to the Virgin Mary, and soon the plague disappeared. In order to express their gratitude, the people of Lyon decided to light small candles in front of the window in early December every year. The second legend is that in 1870, after the Prussians captured the French city of Dijon, they continued to move south and surrounded the city of Lyon. With the army at the gates of the city, the people of Lyon prayed to the Virgin Mary, and if the city of Lyon escaped the disaster, they would rebuild a cathedral for the Virgin Mary. Sure enough, the Prussians withdrew their troops, so people created the “Light Festival” to commemorate the Virgin Mary.

According to historical records, the origin of the real “Light Festival” is even more legendary. In 1852, the people of Lyon rebuilt the bell tower of the cathedral and reshaped the gilded bronze statue of the Virgin Mary. The original plan was to hold a commemoration on September 8 of that year, the birth of the Virgin Mary, but the Saône River suddenly flooded, and the commemoration had to be postponed to December 8. On the morning of December 8, Lyon was hit by a heavy rainstorm, and the people of Lyon were crestfallen. Just as the archbishop was about to announce another postponement of the commemoration, the heavy rain finally stopped in the evening and the sky was completely clear. Excited people lit candles in front of the windows and took to the streets to sing and dance. The candlelight in the city gradually went out until dawn the next day. Since then, December 8 has been officially designated as the starting day of the “Light Festival”, and it eventually evolved into a world-famous festival. The Lyon Light Festival is also a religious festival in Lyon, France. It starts on December 8 and ends on December 11 every year. During the Light Festival, every household in Lyon will place lit candles outside their windows. At the same time, candles will also be placed in religious places or some public places in the city. The most famous places are Notre Dame de Fourvière and Place de Vaux. During the Lyon Light Festival, lights of different designs will be displayed, and modern technology will be integrated into it, making it a visual feast that people yearn for.

During this festival, millions of tourists came to Lyon, and various lighting effects attracted people’s attention, so consumer demand was mainly reflected in lighting-related products and travel supplies, such as electronic source device-related products such as electronic optical products, electronic equipment, display devices, etc.; related products required for outdoor travel include glasses, hats, suitcases (bags), mobile phone power banks, clothing, etc.; digital film and television products include cameras, video recorders, discs, mobile phones, selfie sticks, etc.
