Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most influential and top international film festivals in the world today. In the late 1930s, due to the rising arrogance of fascism at that time, the German documentary “Olympia” was shortlisted for the 1938 Venice Film Festival and won the “Mussolini Award” for Best Foreign Film. The French government, inspired by the international environment at that time and the comfortable climate in Cannes, decided to establish a new international film festival in Cannes. The first film festival was named “International Film Festival” (Festivalinterationaldu flm) and was announced to be held in September 1939, but it was cancelled because the Germans invaded Poland and France and Britain declared war on Germany. On September 20, 1946, the real first international film festival was held in Cannes. In 2002, it was officially named “Cannes Film Festival” (Festivalde Cannes).

Currently, the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held in mid-May every year for about 12 days, usually opening on Wednesday and closing on the Sunday of the following week. As one of the three major international film festivals in Europe, the Cannes Film Festival has a great influence internationally. For French and European movie fans, they can experience excellent movies from different countries and regions during the festival, and star chasers will also encounter their favorite stars. The Cannes Film Festival has driven the development of local tourism.

During this festival, Cannes’ tourism industry is the busiest, with directors, stars and fans from all over the world. Filmmakers who have not gone to Cannes also pay attention to the latest developments. Consumer demand is mainly reflected in travel and guided consumption.
