1. Population changes

Population changes include population growth, age mix, geographical migration, education level, family type, race and belief. Taking my country as an example, reform and opening up have achieved remarkable achievements. In addition to a series of policy dividends, the role of demographic dividends cannot be ignored. But now, my country’s aging trend is accelerating, which means that my country’s future market for elderly care and medical industries is huge. China’s urbanization process is driving the geographical migration of the population, and the siphon effect of developed regions and key cities is becoming increasingly intensified, resulting in more focused and fierce market competition. The shrinking family size and the increase in DINKs and unmarried people have made merchants keenly aware of the advent of the era of individual consumer economy, and “one-person” restaurants have appeared in many places. The trend of population changes is also a factor that cross-border e-commerce companies must consider. South Korea’s total fertility rate in 2020 is once again at the bottom of the world. On average, a couple only gave birth to 0.84 children, the annual newborn population is lower than the death population, and the net increase in the total population is negative, which is a very obvious reminder for cross-border B2B companies.

2. The importance of core values

The core beliefs and values held by people living in a particular society may remain stable. For example, in Islamic countries, cross-border e-commerce companies should pay special attention to factors that need to be avoided, such as the children’s clothing brand “Little Pig**” once “went overseas” and needed to remove clothing with the little pig logo in Islamic countries; and when exporting pork products to Islamic countries, relevant regulations must also be understood.

3. Pay attention to subculture

Every society contains subcultures, which are groups with common values that emerge due to specific life experiences or environments. Its members have common beliefs, hobbies and behaviors.
