There are some differences in the use of light when photographing products and other subjects. In product photography, more lighting is used and less natural light is used, so the picture layout and lighting processing are more complicated. The choice of light sources is divided into indoor natural light, artificial light source and auxiliary equipment.
Indoor natural light refers to the light from outdoor natural light that enters the room through doors and windows, which can easily cause the light and dark contrast between the illuminated part and the dark part of the object. Natural light is not conducive to photographing the texture of the object, and it is also difficult to complete its color expression. When shooting, try to adjust the shooting angle, improve the lighting conditions of the product, and increase the distance between the photographed object and the doors and windows. Reasonably use the reflector to make the dark part of the photographed object partially illuminated to reduce the light and dark difference of the product.
Artificial light source refers to the light emitted by various lamps. This light source is the most used light source in product photography. When using artificial light source for shooting, it should be decided according to the specific conditions of the object being photographed and the content that the photographer wants to express.
Artificial light sources and auxiliary equipment mainly include flash, reflector, light shield, honeycomb, soft box, background cloth, etc.
Different product shootings have different requirements for scene construction. For example, small and exquisite products can use a still life table with a light box. Medium-sized and large products can be built with a background curtain, and clothing products can be shot with models. Generally speaking, scene construction is divided into outdoor shooting environment construction, indoor shooting environment construction, small commodity shooting environment construction, and large commodity shooting environment construction.
Outdoor shooting is mainly for model shooting. Natural light plus reflector fill light is used, so that the style of the photos taken is more natural and unique. When shooting, the sun should be allowed to shine on the subject from the side, avoid direct sunlight, and try to stay away from brightly colored scenes to avoid color cast.
Indoor shooting has requirements for the area of the shooting site, background layout, lighting environment, etc., and auxiliary equipment needs to be prepared, including soft boxes, tripods, synchronized flashes, flash triggers, and reflectors. Indoor shooting is divided into small commodity shooting and large commodity shooting. Before shooting, the shooting environment needs to be built according to the type and size of different commodities. Small items are suitable for shooting in a simple environment. You can use a miniature studio or a white or solid-color background. For large items, try to choose a neat and monochromatic background. Do not allow other irrelevant objects to appear when taking photos.
