Although eBay has a strong influence on the global e-commerce platform, it does not set too many restrictions on human-based merchants. Of course, like all e-commerce platforms, sellers on eBay also need to register an account for trading. But sellers need to understand that due to the differences in the registration entities, the corresponding seller accounts are also different.

eBay seller personal account registration

(1) Step 1: Register an eBay trading account

After logging in to the eBay official website, click the “Register” button at the top of the page. The website will then jump to the registration page. Sellers set up their account names and passwords according to their own requirements and fill in each information according to the prompts. After confirming that everything is correct, click the “Confirm” button. eBay officials will then send an email to the contact email address you filled in to activate the account. After logging in to your email address and confirming the confirmation information, you will be reminded that your registration is successful and will be redirected to the eBay welcome page.

In addition, sellers also need to authenticate their eBay accounts. Generally, they can choose to use a mobile phone number or a dual-currency credit card for authentication. When using the latter, eBay will first collect a deposit of US$10, which will be refunded the following month.

(2) Step 2: Register a PayPal account

After logging in to the PayPal official website, you can choose to register different account types. Sellers who want to engage in cross-border e-commerce trade should choose a “merchant account”, which can be used for online shopping and sales. After filling in the information according to the prompts on the registration page, click the confirmation button to complete the PaPal account registration. Like the eBay account, PayPal also requires authentication. When authenticating, you can choose to use a debit card or a dual-currency credit card.

(3) Step 3: Bind eBay account and PayPal account

Log in to the eBay account you just registered, then click the “My eBay” button at the top of the page, then click “PayPal account”, then select “Connect to my PayPal account” and enter the account and password to complete the binding.

Notes:

When registering an account, you must ensure the authenticity of the information.

Use 163, Hotmail and other mailboxes that can be used worldwide to receive emails from users in various regions and eBay officials.

Apply for a dual-currency credit card and activate the online banking function for it.

After completing the cross-border certification, you can officially open for business. When conducting cross-border certification, personal ID cards, photos, proof of address, etc. are usually required.
