Amazon may also create storage limits for specific ASINs. If specific ASIN limits apply to your account, you can find the details under the ASIN Limits heading in the downloadable Inventory Health Report. This information is not available in the online Inventory Health Report. Frequently Asked Questions:
(1) Will I be notified if my Inventory Performance Index (IPI) is at a low level?
If your IPI is 450 or lower, Amazon will send you an alert during the month to notify you of this information. This alert is separate from the quarterly notifications you receive six weeks before the end of the current quarter.
(2) When will I know if Amazon will impose storage limits on me in the next quarterly cycle, and what storage limits will be imposed?
Amazon will notify you of potential storage limits six weeks before the end of the current quarter. Amazon will only impose storage limits if your score is below 350 at the end of the current quarter.
(3) What happens if my IPI is above 350 for six weeks before the start of the next quarter, but falls below 350 on the last day of the current quarter? For example, on May 19 it is 400 and on June 30 it is 300.
Amazon will only impose storage limits on sellers if the seller’s Inventory Performance Index score is less than 350 in the six weeks before the end of the current quarter and on the last day of the current quarter. In this example, Amazon will not impose storage limits on the seller because the seller’s score is above 350 in the six weeks before the end of the current quarter.
(4) What if I don’t have an Inventory Performance Index, that is, I am a new Amazon FBA seller?
Most sellers with professional selling accounts will have performance indicators, but some do not because Amazon does not have enough data to generate scores for such accounts (such as new Amazon FBA sellers). To apply the new storage limit adjustment cycle, sellers must have an Inventory Performance Index score in the six weeks before the end of the current quarter and on the last day of the current quarter. If the seller is unable to provide an index score for either of these dates, Amazon will impose the default storage limit on the seller.
(5) Will product-based storage limits still apply?
Starting July 1, 2018, product-based limits will no longer apply.
(6) Can I change the storage type of a product?
No, the storage type is determined by Amazon based on the characteristics of the product. Sellers can view which storage type their products are classified into and how many cubic feet of space they occupy on the Amazon Logistics Inventory Age interface.
(7) Can I use space in one storage type to exchange space in another storage type?
No, inventory cannot be exchanged between storage types.
(8) What are the changes to hazardous goods storage types?
The storage class previously known as hazardous goods has now been converted to two new storage types, Aerosols and Flammables. Adjustments to storage limits for the Aerosol and Flammables storage types are handled separately.
