The States which have subscribed to the Constitution of the Postal Union, under the name of the Universal Postal Union, shall form a postal territory for the exchange of mails, so that freedom of transit is guaranteed throughout the territory of the Union.
The objectives of the Postal Union are to organize and improve international postal services, to develop contacts between peoples through the efficient operation of the postal service, to promote international cooperation in the cultural, social and economic fields, and to provide postal technical assistance to member countries as requested by them.
Main Features
(1) Global Coverage. The postal network, through its global combination of electronic, financial and physical dimensions, ensures that citizens throughout the world have access to efficient, reliable, secure and affordable electronic payment services.
(2) Global Network. It is the mission of the Universal Postal Union to help build a global electronic postal payment network. In this regard, it has developed the Postal Payment Services Agreement and Regulations, the legal framework in the form of postal technical centres, the international financial system, and the provision of remittance services by postal operators.
Currently, the “Universal Postal” network has covered 220 countries and regions, which is more extensive than any other logistics channel. Currently, China Post is a member of the organization, which means that users of postal products can enjoy convenient, smooth and more efficient logistics services by using postal logistics.
