1. EMS’s billing method
EMS only charges according to actual weight (first and additional weight), and there is no fuel surcharge and customs clearance fee. The billing formula is:
Freight = first weight freight + (weight (kg) x2-1) x additional weight freight
For example: 25.1kg of goods are shipped to Japan via EMS. The published price of EMS to Japan is first weight: RMB 180, additional weight RMB 40/kg, and the total cost is 180 + (25.5×2-1) x40 = 2180 yuan (Note: 25.1kg exceeds 25kg, but does not exceed 25.5kg, so it is charged as 25.5kg). Generally, EMS will give a discount based on the published price.

2. Calculation method of total cost
From the above, we can conclude:
The total express cost of the four major express companies, DHI, UPS, FedEx, and TNT = (freight + fuel surcharge) discount + packaging fee (if any) + various other additional fees
EMS express total cost = freight
