In recent years, from the perspective of the development direction of China’s cross-border e-commerce, cross-border e-commerce platform services have changed. At the same time, big data-based analysis, efficient trade matching, credit system innovation services, financial and logistics support coordination, etc. have formed the mainstream development direction of cross-border e-commerce in the future.

(I) Further growth of cross-border e-commerce

While cross-border e-commerce is “buying and selling globally”, traditional trade continues to develop towards C2B and C2M. Cross-border e-commerce eliminates information asymmetry and intermediate links through the Internet. The market needs more customized services, and enterprises provide flexible production. Due to the development of big data and artificial intelligence technology, cross-border retail and B2B models develop together. In the next few years, my country’s cross-border e-commerce space will be further expanded.

(II) More sound cross-border e-commerce service platform

Compared with traditional e-commerce, cross-border e-commerce involves international logistics, entry and exit customs clearance and international settlement in the entire transaction process, and needs to connect with more than ten relevant government departments such as customs. Therefore, relying on the Internet and information systems, electronic data exchange is the key to the construction of cross-border e-commerce public service platforms by local governments. There are three major cross-border e-commerce service platforms in my country: customs clearance service platform, public service platform and comprehensive service platform. Establishing a sound cross-border e-commerce trade platform can achieve all-round and full-process supervision and resource sharing of cross-border e-commerce data.

(III) Application of big data

Through big data and related technologies, the different characteristics of cross-border e-commerce users can be accurately analyzed and targeted marketing can be carried out. The application of big data can enable e-commerce to change from winning by sales volume to winning by data, and from manufacturing to customization. At this stage, although cross-border e-commerce can successfully apply big data technology to create some conveniences, there are still many development areas that can be applied to big data.

(IV) Online and offline integration trend

The integration of online and offline is a good trend. Although the e-commerce field has developed rapidly in recent years, most sales still come from traditional brands, and Internet brands are still at a disadvantage, because the products of traditional brands have undergone a long historical development process in terms of quality and craftsmanship, and have advantages that Internet brands cannot compare with. The important reason why consumers choose online shopping is the price discount, in addition to the purchase experience, in this regard, traditional brands have a better mass base. When the online traffic reaches a certain stage, the products in the physical store will be very popular, and e-commerce can transform online traffic into offline resources. Traditional brands can transform offline resources into online traffic. The integration of online and offline is the future development trend of cross-border e-commerce.

(V) Rapid development of warehousing industry

Overseas warehousing has become a widely concerned topic in the cross-border e-commerce industry. my country supports merchants to build warehouses overseas. Overseas warehousing is to transport goods from abroad to local warehouses. After the order is placed, consumers can receive the goods in a very short time, which improves the level of after-sales service. For sellers, overseas warehousing can change the location of goods and increase the exposure of goods; sellers can enhance their competitiveness by becoming overseas sellers, and can also increase pricing according to local commodity prices. However, overseas warehousing also has certain defects, such as the need to inject a lot of funds, the need to improve information systems and warehousing systems, and the need to connect with e-commerce platforms and warehouse management and services.

(VI) Deep integration of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain

With the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, the integration of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain has become closer. In order to improve corporate competitiveness and reduce logistics costs, it is necessary to pay attention to the deep integration of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain, innovate cross-border e-commerce supply chain management mechanisms, improve supply efficiency, and promote the healthy and stable development of cross-border e-commerce.
