Tokopedia is Indonesia’s largest and most trafficked C2C shopping website. It was founded in 2009 and allows individuals to open stores on the platform. Tokopedia’s goal is to help individuals and businesses in Indonesia open and manage their own online stores, while providing consumers with a safer and more convenient online shopping experience. Currently, there are millions of sellers, including local sellers and small and medium-sized enterprises, selling products on Tokopedia.
Tokopedia’s monthly transaction volume is US$16.5 million, with 46 million monthly visitors, ranking sixth in Indonesian website traffic. As of August 2018, Tokopedia has 5.8 million fans on Facebook and 1.366 million fans on Twitter. Alibaba invested US$1.1 billion in Tokopedia to further enter the Southeast Asian market.
Tokopedia has its own payment system, which is safe and secure. Consumers do not have to worry about the safety of their account funds when shopping on the platform. Tokopedia has established a payment tool similar to Alipay. After the buyer pays, the money is deposited into the Tokoprdia account. After the buyer confirms receipt of the goods, the seller can withdraw the money to his own bank account.
In terms of logistics, Tokopedia cooperates with many express logistics companies, which helps sellers easily calculate express costs, conveniently and quickly ship goods, and self-track logistics information.
In addition, in order to better serve sellers and help sellers carry out business activities, Tokopedia has opened a seller community Top Community, where sellers can sign up to participate in activities of sellers in the same city within the community, which facilitates communication between sellers and sharing of sales experience.
