After the seller has chosen the Amazon site to enter, he/she must start the site registration process. Only after completing the registration can the seller have his/her own store backend and perform subsequent operations such as uploading product data and checking it.
Amazon platform registration preparation
The registration requirements of the Lujing e-commerce platform are similar. Understanding the relevant preparations before registering on the Amazon platform can help sellers quickly and accurately complete the Amazon store registration. Amazon platform registration preparation mainly includes understanding the account type, preparing registration information, and selecting payment methods.
1. Understanding account types
Amazon platform account types include Vendor Central, Vendor Express, and Seller Central.
(1) Vendor Central
Vendor Central, referred to as VC, is the supplier system of the Amazon platform. Most of the self-operated products on the Amazon platform come from sellers of this account type. Sellers who can register for VC account types are invited by Amazon to enter and are all brand sellers. This means that sellers need to settle in after the products and brands have settled down, rather than being able to enter without anything.
The Vendor Cental account type is similar to the self-operated model of the current domestic JD platform. After the seller reaches a cooperation agreement with the Amazon platform, the platform will purchase and store the seller’s products and be fully responsible for transportation, pricing, customer service and even returns.
(2) Vendor Express
Vendor Express is referred to as VE. Similar to the VC type, both are Amazon’s supplier systems for sellers. The difference from VC is that sellers who register for VE accounts need to meet certain conditions, such as being a local seller in the United States and having a US tax number.
(3) Seller Central
Seller Central is referred to as SC. It is an independent operating account for sellers on Amazon. Currently, most Chinese sellers sell goods on the Amazon platform with this account type. Sellers who sell goods independently on Amazon come from various countries and regions around the world. There are corporate sellers and individual sellers, and the scale of their business varies.
Sellers registered as SC accounts on the Amazon platform are divided into two store levels: personal sales accounts and professional sales accounts.
The platform usage fee for personal sales accounts is charged at $0.99 per item. For example, for each item uploaded by a seller using a personal sales account, the platform will charge a platform usage fee of $0.99. Professional sales accounts are charged at $39.99 per month. In terms of transaction commissions, there is no difference between the two store levels. Both charge different commissions based on different categories, generally 8% to 15%. In terms of functions, personal sales accounts can only upload a single item when uploading items, and there is no data report in the background, and the platform’s promotion and promotion tools cannot be used. For professional sales accounts, sellers can upload items individually or in batches and can download data reports. During the operation, they can also use the platform promotion and promotion tools provided by the platform.
Through the comparison between personal sales accounts and professional sales accounts mentioned above, it can be seen that the biggest difference between the two is whether to pay the platform store monthly rent, and different store levels affect whether more important tools and functions can be enjoyed during operation. If sellers want to achieve better development and more profits on the Amazon platform, professional sales stores are the inevitable choice.
It is worth mentioning that personal sales accounts and professional sales accounts are not fixed. Amazon provides platform sellers with the right to switch by themselves, and sellers can switch by themselves in the store background. However, it is relatively simple to downgrade a professional seller account to a personal sales account. If you upgrade from a personal sales account to a professional sales account, the system may require you to re-provide relevant information used for valid account registration for review, so it is generally not recommended for sellers to arbitrarily lower their store level. Among the three account types of VE account, VC account and SC account, SC meets the selection type of general seller accounts, and professional sales accounts among SC accounts are more operational.
