Through basic data analysis, we can see that Chinese enterprises are more and more enthusiastic about participating in overseas exhibitions. Whether in developed countries in Europe and the United States or in developing countries, Chinese enterprises can be seen. At the same time, they have also put forward higher requirements for the goals and needs of overseas exhibitions. This report represents the current status of export-oriented enterprises’ overseas exhibitions to a certain extent.

The survey shows that the countries and regions with the most enterprises participating in exhibitions are Germany (20%), ASEAN (15%) and the United States (13%).

As a major country in trade exhibitions, Germany has both historical traditions and current development momentum, and is the most popular destination for enterprises to participate in exhibitions. In Germany, you can find world-class exhibitions in almost all categories. For example, the world’s largest exhibition with a net area of more than 600,000 square meters – Munich International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, Mining Machinery, Engineering Vehicles and Construction Equipment Exhibition (bauma).

Since China and ASEAN established a strategic partnership in 2003, China has been ASEAN’s largest trading partner for 10 consecutive years. In the first seven months of 2019, ASEAN was the fastest growing region in my country’s exports, with a growth rate of 15.8%. ASEAN is a key region for the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, especially the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. With the deepening of bilateral cooperation, this region has naturally become one of the important exhibition centers for enterprises.

2. Transaction is the core goal of corporate exhibitions

Most exhibitors believe that compared with domestic exhibitions, overseas exhibitions require more manpower, material resources and financial resources, so sales are king and transaction is the hard truth. The proportion of those who choose to focus on transactions is as high as 38%. In addition, the main goals of participating in exhibitions are to open up new markets, collect market information, promote corporate image and learn advanced technologies.

In the survey item “How many foreign exhibitions do you participate in on average per year”, the proportion of enterprises that choose 2 to 3 is the highest, reaching 59%. 26% of enterprises said that they only participate in one foreign exhibition a year, so they will be more cautious in choosing exhibitions. 5% of enterprises also said they would participate in more than 7 overseas exhibitions, and most of those who chose this option were manufacturing enterprises that export textiles and light industrial products.
