1. What is “False Advertising”?

We encourage Wish merchants to use high-quality images and attractive text to describe their products. However, using untrue or unverified information to describe product quality, content, or logistics in order to mislead consumers into purchasing a product is not in line with Wish’s purpose.

If one of your products is marked as “False Advertising”, it means that the product information page for that product uses false or unverified information.

2. What are some examples of “False Advertising”?

There are many types of examples of “False Advertising”. Common examples of “False Advertising” include:

Unverified Product Guarantees and Warranties:

Since Wish does not provide any product guarantees or warranties, you may not use phrases such as “money back guarantee” or “lifetime warranty” to promote your products.

Unauthorized Use of Certification Agency Logos

Wish does not allow merchants to use logos or other marketing materials from certification agencies such as FDA, UPS, FEDEX, USPS, or CE. This behavior violates the intellectual property rights of the relevant agencies and is not verified by Wish.

Logos, Seals, Marks, Certificates, ID Cards, Badges, Trade Dress, or Branding of Certifying Bodies or Organizations:

Wish does not promote the sale of products through the unauthorized use of official logos/brands of certifying bodies such as government agencies, private and public companies. Such behavior violates the intellectual property rights of the relevant organizations and is prohibited by Wish.

Unverified Shipping Time Information

Shipping times vary based on the buyer’s address. Merchants displaying shipping times in titles, product descriptions, or images can cause consumer confusion and hinder Wish from providing a high-quality user experience.

Unverified Free Shipping

Discounted or free shipping is not currently a Wish-approved marketing strategy, even if the merchant sets the shipping cost to $0. This marketing can sometimes cause consumer confusion and hinder Wish from providing a high-quality user experience.

Unauthorized use of “Verified by Wish”, “Wish Express” or “Wish Blue Pickup” icons

Forging Wish’s “Wish Blue Pickup”, “Verified by Wish” or “Wish Express” logos through image processing software such as Photoshop violates Wish’s intellectual property rights. In addition, if the product itself or the delivery service does not meet consumer expectations, such behavior will hinder Wish from providing a high-quality user experience.

Watermarks, logos or trademarks of other e-commerce websites:

Merchants may not use watermarks or trademarks of other e-commerce platforms on the Wish platform. This behavior violates the intellectual property rights of other companies and easily confuses Wish users.

Unverified price information:

Wish does not encourage the use of images with prices in product detail pages. This will confuse consumers and hinder Wish from providing a high-quality user experience.

Merchant Contact Information or Referral Information:

Wish does not encourage the use of merchant contact information or referral information in product detail pages. This information may create a negative experience for our customers.

3. Are product images, titles, and descriptions considered “false advertising”?

Wish’s “false advertising” policy applies to all content that merchants upload to the platform. This means that products may be flagged for violations such as images, titles, descriptions, prices, and sizes. Click here for more information on creating compliant products.

4. What should I do if a product with blank or incorrect images is considered “false advertising”?

To ensure consistency and quality on the platform, Wish requires that all products use images that accurately depict the product. If you accidentally upload an incorrect product image, please disable the product as soon as possible and create a new product to avoid penalties.

5. What is the difference between “false advertising” and “misleading products”?

If a merchant clearly describes the product they are selling but contains false, unsubstantiated, or exaggerated information, the product may be marked as “false advertising.”

When a product intentionally deceives consumers into thinking they are purchasing a different product at a very low discount, the product will be considered “misleading” and subject to a corresponding penalty. In addition, when the product received by the user is completely different from the advertised product, the product will also be considered “misleading” and subject to a corresponding penalty.

6. The product information contains the words “Free Shipping” and the logistics fee is indeed set to $0. Why is the product still subject to a “false advertising” penalty?

Currently, Wish does not allow merchants to use logistics information (timeliness, costs, etc.) as a means of promotion. Please do not use such terms in product information to avoid being subject to a “false advertising” penalty.

7. What should I do if I think the penalty is inappropriate?

Wish sets penalties to ensure that merchants upload product information carefully and comply with Wish policies. Currently, such penalties cannot be appealed, but you can edit the product information and resubmit and list the product through the product editing function.
