A report released by market research firm techARC, India App Engagement Is on the Rise, shows that most Indians use up to 24 apps on their phones every day. Nearly 40% of people use six to ten apps every day. Indians have installed an average of 51 apps, but the highest number of downloads reached 207, which is much higher than the global average.

Here are a few categories of apps commonly used by Indians for sellers to learn about. If sellers are interested, they can also download and study. Placing product ads on these apps may be a good way to increase product exposure.

Social media is the most popular category, as 76% of Indian smartphone users subscribe to social media apps every day. Mobile games follow closely behind.

Top entertainment apps, including live TV and video on demand, are becoming increasingly popular, with 40% of users watching app content every day.

Social category

Social apps can help people interact better with foreign friends, among which WhatsApp and Facebook are the two most commonly used social software by Indians.

(I) Facebook

Facebook is the most commonly used chat software by Indians. It can send text, pictures and videos. Many people like to share their daily lives on it. Sellers can also promote their products on it by themselves or by paying others.

In addition, the well-known Twitter and Instagram (the world’s largest photo sharing social application) are also very popular, and the way of recommending products to users is similar to Facebook.

(II) WhatsApp

WhatsApp is another chat software that Indians often use. It is mainly used for sending messages and making calls. WhatsApp is also popular in Southeast Asian countries and some European and American countries.

Although most people regard WhatsApp as a free communication application, marketers usually regard it as a free and powerful marketing tool. They can open a store on WhatsApp and promote their products with the help of broadcast and group messaging functions, and can also use discounts and other means to attract consumers’ attention. In addition, sellers can also use the sharing function to share and promote their own stores, products and articles in WhatsApp contacts and groups.
