Meaning of the Choking Hazard Warning Requirement
To add applicable choking hazard warnings to your product listings, Amazon sellers should do the following:
Determine whether the products you sell on Amazon are required to provide them “Warning Statement” (choking hazard warning); then
use seller tools to provide such statement to Amazon as part of your product information (product detail page).
The warning statement you select for your product will appear in a yellow “Warning” box above the “Product Description” on the product detail page.
The following is an example of how a warning may appear. The actual warning content that appears on the product detail page will depend on the claims you select.
How to confirm and upload choking hazard warning information
Step 1: Confirm which products require warning statements
A. Confirmation
You need to comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act identifies which, if any, products you sell on Amazon require a warning statement (choking hazard warning).
The warning statement applies to toys and games marketed to children 12 years of age and younger, regardless of the category in which the products are listed.
You can determine which, if any, warning statements should be provided with a specific product as follows:
Contact the product manufacturer or inspect the product packaging to determine whether the product poses an applicable choking hazard warn.
If you are a product manufacturer, you are responsible for determining whether a warning statement applies to your products. Amazon cannot determine this information for you.
B. Warning Statements (Choking Hazard Warning)
The following are six warning statements (warnings) that may apply to your product:

Not for use by children under 3 years of age
Choking Hazard – Small Balls
Warning: Choking Hazard – This toy is a small ball.

You can select up to four of these six warnings. You don’t need to select more than four warnings because a warning that an item “contains” pellets or marbles cannot be combined with a corresponding warning that an item “is” pellets or marbles.
Step 2: Update the product with the required information
Once you have identified which products require a warning statement on the product detail page and what values are appropriate for each product, you can use these It’s time to update the product details page. You can do this using our updated seller tools.
A. New data fields
To help you provide the information you need to include in your product listings, we have created two additional data fields in the product listing upload data and seller tools . The two new fields are listed below:

Use this field to display warning statements related to choking risks in children’s toys and games applicable to your product. The warning statement you selected will appear on the product detail page. If none of the warning statements apply to your product, select “no_warning_applicable”.
Select the appropriate statement from the following valid values:

choking_hazard_contains_a_marble
choking_hazard_contains_small_ball

[CPSIA warning instructions] If other safety warnings need to be provided on the product details page in the future (in addition to the six types provided by CPSIA warning), you can use this field. Do not use this field unless recommended by Amazon.com.

B. Use the new fields in the tool

Here’s how to upload a CPSIA warning to your product detail page using seller tools.
Inventory File Templates
A new CPSIA column has been added to all inventory template files for each classification. Since each product can have up to four applicable values, the template contains four columns.
To submit your information using an inventory file template:
Go to the Inventory File Templates page in Seller Central and download the updated template.
Fill in these columns with the appropriate values for your product. (Fill in one value per column [WARNING STATEMENT], up to four values per product)
Upload the file to Amazon as normal.
Note: The CPSIA Warning column is only required for toys and games that you sell on Amazon for children under 12 years old. Unless otherwise directed by Amazon, the CPSIA Warning Statement column should be left blank for all products.
Add New Product
You can use the Add New Product tool to add choking hazard warnings to applicable products individually.
Click “Add New Product” on the “Inventory” link. Enter the product’s ISBN in the search box, then scroll through the product information until you find each CSPIA warning statement option.
Select your values and click Save and Continue.

In order to update product detail pages, XML users need to know the following:
The revised Product.xsd includes the following new field: “CPSIA Warning” and “CPSIA Warning Statement.”
Use the appropriate value for the applicable product.
Remember that you should leave the CPSIA Warning Description field blank unless instructed otherwise by Amazon.

What the choking hazard warning requirement means to you
In order to add applicable choking hazard warnings to their product listing, sellers on Amazon should do the following :
Determine if a "cautionary statement" (choking hazard warning) applies to the products you sell on Amazon; and
Provide such statements to Amazon as part of the product listing ( product detail page) using our seller tools.
The cautionary statement(s) you choose for your product will appear on the product's detail page in a yellow "Warning" box, located above the Product Description.
Below is an example of how the warning will appear. The actual warnings on your product detail pages will depend on the statements you choose.
How to verify & upload choking hazard warning information
Step 1: Verify which of your products require a cautionary statement

You will need to verify which (if any) of the products you sell on Amazon require cautionary statements (choking hazard warnings) under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
The cautionary statements apply to toys and games intended for children 12 years of age and under, regardless of the category in which these products are listed.
You can verify which (if any) cautionary statements should be included for a particular product by:
Contacting the product manufacturer OR checking the product's packaging for the applicable choking hazard warnings.
If you are the manufacturer of a product, you are responsible for determining whether the cautionary statements apply to your product. Amazon cannot verify this information for you.
B. The cautionary statements (choking hazard warnings)
The following are the six cautionary statements (warnings) that may apply to your products:

You may select up to four of these six warnings. You should never need to choose more than four warnings, as a warning that a product "contains" a small ball or marble should not apply simultaneously with the corresponding warning that a product "is" a small ball or marble.

After you have verified which of your products require cautionary statements on their detail pages, and which values apply to each of those products, you are ready to update your detail pages with those values. You can do this using our updated seller tools.

After you have verified which of the products you sell on Amazon require cautionary statements on their detail pages, and which of the 6 values listed above apply to each of those products, you are ready to upload your information.
Below are instructions for using seller tools to upload your CPSIA warning information to your product details pages.
Inventory file templates
The new CPSIA columns have been added to all flat files for every category. Because each product can have up to four values applicable to it, there are four columns in the template.
To submit your information using inventory file templates:
Go to the inventory file templatepage in Seller Central and download the updated templates.
Fill in these columns with the appropriate value(s) as they apply to your products. (Each column can have one value [cautionary statement] and each product can have up to four values.)
Upload the file as usual to Amazon.
Note :The cpsia_warning columns need only be filled out for those products you sell on Amazon for toys and games for children under 12. The cpsia_warning_description column should remain blank for all products, unless you receive instruction otherwise by Amazon.
Add A Product
You can use the Add a Product tool to add the choking hazard warnings to your applicable products one at a time.
