As an Amazon seller, it would be really outdated if you don’t know about Prime Day. Prime Day is a holiday created by Amazon. Literally speaking, many people may think it is for Prime members, but in fact it is for all potential consumers, that is, buyers. The essence of Prime Day is a flash sale event.

Let’s take a look at the start time of Prime Day in previous years.

In 2016, Prime Day begins on Tuesday, July 12th. In 2017, Prime Day begins on Tuesday, July 11th.

In 2018, Amazon Prime Day starts on Tuesday, July 10. All products participating in Prime Day must be discounted by an additional 20% off the lowest price since January 2018. It can be said that Amazon’s promotions are about giving profits to buyers, rather than increasing the selling price and then discounting.

Click “Advertising” → “Flash Sale Page” in the backend of the Seller Center to check whether any of your products are recommended by the system.

Only products recommended by the system are eligible to participate in flash sales. Among the recommended products, select the appropriate Listing to participate in Prime Day or Prime Day Countdown Week. The deadline for submitting flash sales is May 28, 2018. The purpose of this book is to provide sellers with in-depth thinking articles. What is the real significance of Prime Day to sellers? Products participating in Prime Day need to be discounted at the lowest price. In addition, Amazon also charges 150 to 500 US dollars. In addition to the registration fee, the platform also charges a 15% commission on products from third-party sellers, and the delivery fee is also collected. Calculated in this way, a product needs at least 50% profit to break even. Sellers need to calculate whether the product they want to participate in the flash sale event has 50% profit.

I did a test during the peak season of 2017 and placed a Listing in three different old and new Amazon accounts.

The first one is a new account with very few sales.

The second is a backup account, used to make some diversion money. The third is the main account, which is used to make profits.

If the same new Listing is uploaded to three different accounts, the new product traffic obtained will be completely different. The new product traffic of the third main account is actually 3 to 5 times that of the new account. It should be noted that new product traffic is natural traffic and does not count as advertising traffic. Because the main account has high sales volume, high selling prices, and many orders, the store levels are different. It is said that the Amazon platform attaches great importance to products but not stores. However, real case test results tell us that the traffic given to stores of different levels within Amazon is skewed. Some people may say that this is unfair to us new sellers; but I want to say that other people’s old accounts have been operating for many years, have no violation records, have good sales, and have high praise rates, so the account performance is naturally good, and they have taken practical actions. If you prove that you are a strong seller, you will get more support in terms of new product traffic.

Therefore, Prime Day should be the best opportunity for small and medium-sized sellers to improve their store level.

First of all, accurately calculate the profit of the product. As long as there is no loss, you must sign up for Prime Day. You can also use the low-priced model to attract traffic through flash sales and give the variant additional profits. More exposure, thereby achieving the purpose of profit. Secondly, Prime Day is a test of the seller’s supply chain and supply stability in a short period of time. Before Prime Day begins, it is necessary to estimate the sales volume of the product so that stock can be reasonably prepared. Stocking can be carried out by a combination of sea and air transport. It is another test on how to reduce costs and how to choose high-quality and stable logistics providers.

Product promotion during the Prime Day event, setting up advertisements on the Listing site, and creating and optimizing the holiday atmosphere on the Listing page are the only way for a new seller to become a mature seller.

After the Prime Day event is over, products will inevitably have more or less after-sales problems. After a seller generates huge sales in a short period of time at a low price, it is daily operation work to follow up with a large number of reminder emails and send emails one by one to buyers who have purchased the product to inquire about usage. The purpose of email review reminders is to increase product reviews. Continuously increasing reviews is a required course for sellers. If a listing can sell more than 1,000 units on Prime Day, then the listing will become a member of Amazon’s annual sales rankings, and is likely to be in the top three. This means that this product is a hot product created by the seller through Prime Day, and will subsequently bring a large amount of natural traffic and orders.

Of course, the premise is that the quality of your product is good enough, otherwise everything will be in vain.

So, from this point of view, Amazon is ultimately a platform that focuses on products.
