Wish platform success case: Chen Zaixin – leveraging momentum.

Recently, I received an official invitation from Wish to write an article to record the bits and pieces of Wish that have accompanied me over the years. I felt that my thoughts were flowing like a spring, and there were too many words to express, but I didn’t know where to start. In this case, let’s talk about the part that made me feel the most.

I have always thought that people like me, or most of the cross-border e-commerce practitioners around me, are not people who have the ability to create momentum. We have worked hard for several years or even more than ten years. Before Wish appeared, there were still few people who could share the industry dividends, because the industry dividends were originally small, and it was really not so easy to grab them.

So you have to admit that Wish is a legend that can be called a disruptor for most of its peers – the key is that it is still so young.

In the past, countless of us racked our brains to squeeze to the top of the rankings. Now, Wish’s personalized push method and simple and fast sales path allow everyone to more accurately display products and services to customers who really need them.

I have heard praise and regret more than once. The praises were about how I was able to seize the first opportunity on Wish, and most of the regrets were about not being able to catch up with the initial golden age. In fact, it is not the case. I have always believed that it is not that I have any intelligence, but that I caught the earliest train at the right time, that’s all.

“The rapidity of the rushing water, which can even float stones, is momentum.” The trend is like a tide, which is unstoppable. On the road of life, you and I can only encounter one or two rapid currents. Grab it and follow it closely, then everything you do will be logical and natural, and of course, you will get twice the result with half the effort.

“Therefore, those who are good at fighting seek it from momentum, not blame others, so they can choose people and follow the momentum.” Translated, it means that the good wind takes advantage of the force and sends me to the blue sky – and I am just one of the first pigs to fly on the wind. Don’t you see that there are now “huge” flying pigs all over the sky?

Seeing that the momentum is getting stronger than at the beginning, isn’t it the right time to join now?

In this way, if you take advantage of the momentum, you are already half right.

The other half is: responsibility, tolerance, compliance, and then there will be long-term dividend sharing.

In 2012, we were still operating an independent website, a platform where we shared products every day.

In early 2013, as one of the first merchants, we began to try to sell products through Wish, thus opening a new era in the field of cross-border e-commerce.

However, no new thing is perfect when it is born, and the same is true for platforms. We have experienced from 0 to 1 together, and from 1 to 100. It is undeniable that Wish has always been a simple and easy-to-operate platform, and it was almost a blank sheet of paper in the initial stage. If most of the first batch of merchants cannot abide by their responsibilities and bottom lines as merchants, I wonder if the later ones will still have the opportunity to experience such a relaxed operating environment and such a large scale of dividends. It’s not that we have demonstrated much value in Wish’s leapfrog process, but that we have played a positive role in the early stages of Wish’s development.

We will not deliberately sell counterfeit products, that’s one.

We will not deliberately exploit loopholes, that’s two.

You know, Wish at that time had no product review mechanism at all, and what to sell basically depended on the merchant’s own choice. And the policy was largely blank. If you really wanted to exploit loopholes at that time, the consequences would naturally be disastrous. Fortunately, we all kept the initial bottom line.

“Wealth and honor are what people desire. If you don’t get it by the right way, you won’t keep it.” Whether there is a bottom line for doing business has nothing to do with feelings, but is related to an industry, an enterprise, and whether it can be sustained. I hope that every colleague can keep this sentence in mind: “Don’t let the clouds block your view, and look at the scenery in the long run!”

At the same time, you can’t expect a platform to bring geometric growth to your business and make everything go your way.

In the current period of rapid development, any industry is “going against the current, if you don’t advance, you will retreat”. In this process, Wish, as a platform, can only start with the overall situation in policy formulation, which may affect the vested interests of individual merchants. However, if you shout and complain about it, it is inevitable that you will be suspected of “getting a bargain and selling it well”. I firmly believe that everyone hopes to quickly obtain greater benefits through the platform, so Wish should be given more time to slowly become perfect, which is tolerance.

In addition, each platform has its own rules that meet its current conditions. As merchants, you and I must abide by them. This is beyond doubt, but some people compare the seemingly relaxed places of other platforms with the terms that Wish does not allow, which is a bit far-fetched. It may be easier to understand with an example: if someone is arrested for carrying a gun in China, he argues with the police that it is legal for me to carry a gun in the United States, why not in China? Do you still think his reason is justified?

In a nutshell: ask when you are in a place and adapt to local conditions.

Therefore, it is our basic obligation to abide by the rules of the game. Instead of accepting with complaints, it is better to cooperate happily. It seems that we have done everything well, right?

At the end of the article, I still can’t escape the common practice and continue to thank Wish for making my present and a better future possible. I also sincerely hope that Wish can get better and better, and I hope everyone can have lofty aspirations, and I hope every Wish merchant can get what they want!
