1. What is a discount activity?
A discount activity is to set a certain percentage of the discount amount based on the original price of the product, which can be set by the seller.

The way of expressing discounts in Southeast Asia is different from that in mainland China. They use off to express the discount ratio. For example, 20% off means that the price of the product is reduced by 20% on the original basis, but the way of expression in mainland China is to directly write the price of the product as the original price x 80%, which is what we often call 80% off. The way of expressing discounts in Taiwan is the same as that in mainland China.
2. Why set up discount activities?
There are three main benefits of setting up discount activities.
①Discount activities are a marketing method, exchanging low prices for sales.
②Satisfy the customer’s “getting a bargain” mentality. Sellers need to understand that buyers do not want a bargain, but the feeling of getting a bargain.
③It is convenient for sellers to adjust the selling price. The Shopee platform is very sensitive to the behavior of changing the original price. If the store is not careful, it may be penalized. Therefore, the sellers on the Shopee platform generally do not change the original price, but adjust the selling price by adjusting the discount.
3. Steps to set up discount activities
Enter “My Discount Activities” path: Seller Center > My Marketing Activities > My Discount Activities. Set up discount activities.
a. Discount activity name: It will not be displayed to users. Sellers can set it according to their actual situation.
b. Discount activity time: The end time of the activity must be at least one hour later than the start time of the activity. After the discount promotion is successfully set, the activity time can only be shortened, not extended.
c. Batch setting: Set discounts in batches. In the case of very low discounts and losses, sellers must also set the purchase limit for each buyer.
d. Single setting: Sellers can set a specific discount for a certain product separately. After the discount setting is completed, click the “Finish” button.
4. Practical skills of discount activities
In the practical process, we must cleverly use discount activities to help us improve operational efficiency.
①When the new product is launched, the discount is set to 50%. When the price is adjusted later, the profit change is twice the discount change. For example, the product that was originally 50% off is increased and promoted to 45% off because of the event, but the actual profit is reduced by 10%.

This does not apply to the Vietnam site, because the discount on the Vietnam site cannot exceed 50%.
②If the activity is large, in the case of loss, the seller must set a purchase limit on the product, otherwise it is likely to be fleeced, and a buyer will buy multiple discounts, and the loss budget cannot be controlled.
