On the AliExpress platform, sellers often fall into misunderstandings when setting shipping costs, causing many merchants to be confused about the shipping costs for different weights and countries, and eventually lose money due to incorrect calculation of shipping costs. So, how to set shipping costs for different weights and countries in AliExpress?

Before setting shipping costs, you first need to understand the logistics categories provided by the AliExpress platform, including economic logistics, simple logistics, standard logistics, and fast logistics. In order to set shipping costs correctly, sellers need to understand AliExpress’s logistics policies and download logistics quotation sheets.

Determine the logistics method that suits you based on your sales amount and package weight. There is a dividing line here. The dividing line for most countries is $5, while for hot-selling countries, the dividing line may be lower, which can be refined to $2. According to this dividing line, find a specific quotation that applies to your product.

For example, suppose a seller’s product sales price is 65 yuan, and the order amount must be more than $5. Then the seller can directly skip the economic logistics and check the standard logistics. Then, according to the weight of your product (for example, 100 grams), find the highest price in the order of freight from low to high, and calculate the freight = freight unit price × weight + registration fee, assuming it is 217.1 US dollars/kg × 0.1 kg + 18 US dollars = 39.71 US dollars. Taking this freight into account in the cost, you can realize the seller’s free shipping.

When creating a new template, select the appropriate logistics method and select the seller to provide free shipping, so that the freight template is set.

The above method is a rough estimate of the free shipping price. If you want to be more detailed, sellers can use the second method to customize the freight settings. After all, the logistics and freight costs of some popular countries are much cheaper than the highest price.

Click Custom Settings, and still set the freight in segments in ascending order. For example, for products within 1 kg, the price within 100 US dollars is set as free shipping; the price between 100-150 US dollars is set to calculate the shipping fee at 150 US dollars; the price between 150-200 US dollars is set to calculate the shipping fee at 200 US dollars; and the price above 200 US dollars is set to calculate the shipping fee according to the highest price in the quotation table.

Then, calculate the percentage based on the difference between the non-free shipping fee and the free shipping fee. For example, for countries between 150-200 US dollars, you can set it like this: 200-100=100, and then calculate the difference percentage: 100/200=0.5. Therefore, when setting the custom option of non-free shipping, the shipping fee for these countries can be set to be reduced by 50%.

In this way, the settings of free shipping areas and non-free shipping areas are completed. In addition, if there are areas that you do not want to ship to, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, you can set them not to ship in the custom options.

If the shipping fee setting of AliExpress is unreasonable, the seller is likely to lose money because overseas shipping fees are usually high. Therefore, for novices, the first task is to learn how to correctly set up the freight template, which is a very important skill in operation.
