(1) Introduction to WAP. WAP (wireless application protocol) is an open global standard for communication between digital mobile phones, the Internet and other personal digital assistants (PDAs), and computer applications. It consists of a series of protocols and is used to standardize wireless communication equipment. WAP closely links mobile networks with the Internet and corporate local area networks, providing a mobile value-added service that is independent of network types, operators, and terminal devices and has no geographical restrictions. WAP service is a service that allows mobile phones to directly access the Internet and browse WAP sites through mobile phone WAP browsers. Users can enjoy a variety of application services such as news browsing, stock inquiries, email sending and receiving, online games, and chat. Through this technology, users can enjoy endless online information resources no matter where and when they use mobile phones that support WAP services.
(2) Payment process of WAP mobile access method. The payment process of WAP mobile payment access method starts from the mobile client, passes through the merchant, payment gateway, and finally reaches the bank. After verification and processing, the bank sends feedback to the merchant and mobile terminal to explain the status of this transaction. Among them, the bank and the merchant do not communicate directly, but forward through the payment gateway registered by the merchant in the bank; for the mobile terminal, the bank sends a signed message to it to complete the notification process.
Specifically, the payment process of the WAP mobile access method is different from that of the wired exchange. The mobile customer is not always connected during the entire transaction process. After the mobile terminal provides the merchant with the order information, it disconnects the network connection and waits for the payment confirmation signature SMS sent from the bank. This approach can effectively save the bandwidth of the wireless network and save expenses for customers. It is a desirable method.
The transaction process based on the WAP method starts from the mobile terminal user, and there may be the following two situations.
① Online shopping. The customer obtains product information from the merchant’s homepage and makes a purchase. When the merchant sends back the confirmation information, the customer generates the transaction data.
② Direct payment. The customer does not need to browse the merchant’s website, but only performs a simple payment behavior.
