In the broadest sense, remote payment refers to a type of payment method in which the payee successfully performs payment operations without being at the payment site. Remote payment can be performed by sending payment instructions (such as online banking, telephone banking, mobile payment, SMS payment, etc.) or using payment tools (such as mailing, remittance). Corresponding to this is on-site payment or near-field payment, that is, the payee needs to arrive at the payment site to perform the payment operation.
Remote payment is usually carried out through various networks, collectively referred to as network payment. The network can be the Internet, or it can be a communication network, a television network, or even a power grid. Remote payment is currently mainly carried out through Internet payment.
Internet payment must inevitably use various human-computer interaction terminals to connect to the network. According to the different terminals, it can be divided into desktop computers and mobile phones, corresponding to desktop online payment and mobile online payment respectively. With the development of technology, the boundaries between terminals are becoming increasingly blurred, various types of terminals are increasingly integrated, and the differences between terminals will become smaller and smaller.
