The delivery point in the transportation of goods refers to the place where the carrier and the shipper hand over the goods and divide the responsibility risks and costs according to the transportation contract. At present, the delivery points of goods in container transportation include door (the place agreed by both parties), container yard, shipside or hook, and container freight station.

Door refers to the factory, warehouse of the consignee and consignor or the place agreed by both parties to receive and deliver containers. It is often used in multimodal transport.

Container yard (Container Yard, CY), referred to as “yard”, is the place for handing over and keeping empty containers (Empty Container) and loaded containers (Loaded container), and it is also the place where containers are changed into transport tools.

Ship’s Rail Hook/ Tackle, referred to as “hook”, refers to the loading and unloading shipside or terminal container loading and unloading sling at the loading port or unloading port, and is used as the boundary to distinguish the responsibility boundary of transportation loading and unloading costs.

Container Freight Station (CFS), referred to as “station”, is a place for the delivery and storage of LCL cargo, and also a place for the packing and unpacking of LCL cargo. Container yard and container freight station can also be located in the same place.

Gate, yard and hook are mainly the delivery places for full container load (FCL), while station is mainly the delivery place for less than container load (LCL).
