Postal direct mail, express direct mail and cargo collection direct mail modes all require that the business can only be carried out after there is an order. The business itself does not prepare goods in the country, and customs clearance is required only when the package enters the country. However, there are also differences between the two modes, the main differences are as follows:
(i) Spot check mode
In the postal direct mail and express direct mail modes, for a single express, if it is sampled, it must be opened for inspection, and if it fails the sample inspection, it will be returned.
In the cargo collection direct mail mode, some ports do not conduct entry and exit inspection and quarantine, such as Zhengzhou Port.
(ii) Customs clearance mode
In the postal direct mail and express direct mail modes, after confirming the order, the overseas supplier uses international express to mail the goods directly from overseas to the consumer. If the merchant uses airport express for customs clearance, the commercial express will declare customs by itself; if the merchant uses EMS for customs clearance, the postal channel can be used to complete postal customs clearance. There are no customs documents in the whole process.
Under the direct mail mode, merchants collect goods from multiple orders and transport them to domestic customs supervision warehouses to go through formal customs clearance procedures and release them after customs inspection. Each order is accompanied by customs documents.
(III) After-sales service
Under the postal direct mail and express direct mail modes, since goods have to go through multiple entities in the circulation process before they can reach consumers, if there are after-sales problems, it will be difficult to determine the responsibility, so returns and exchanges are generally not supported.
Under the direct mail mode, goods enter overseas warehouses in advance, and return, exchange and replenishment services are provided based on the feedback from the platform, which can further meet the after-sales needs of consumers.
