The merchant star rating is a hierarchical system for evaluating the ability and willingness of international merchants to serve overseas buyers. It is a hierarchical system generated based on the objective data performance of merchants in the entire process of cross-border trade on the Alibaba International Station platform. The merchant star rating is divided into 5 levels: one star, two stars, three stars, four stars, and five stars, among which five stars are the highest. The merchant star rating was upgraded to version 4.0 on June 10, 2020.

The merchant star rating index system emphasizes the core concerns of buyers, including four major capabilities: merchant power (customization scenario)/product power (fast transaction scenario), marketing power, transaction power, and guarantee power. Merchant power/product power focuses on the display of high-quality products, marketing power focuses on the ability to obtain business opportunities, transaction power focuses on the transaction conversion effect, and guarantee power focuses on transaction quality and buyer experience. In addition to meeting the score requirements of the above four capabilities, merchants also need to meet the basic requirements of average response time, on-time delivery rate, and buyer evaluation for three service indicators.

The merchant star rating is divided into two scenario indicators, one is “customization star rating”, and the other is “fast transaction (RTS) star rating”. When the merchant star rating is finally determined, the higher level of the two is generally taken.
