AliExpress was founded in 2009 and opened registration to the public for free in April 2010. AliExpress buyers are mainly individual consumers, accounting for about 80% of the total number of buyers on the platform, and 20% are overseas wholesalers and retailers, so AliExpress is positioned as a foreign trade retail website.

1. Basic requirements for entry into AliExpress

On December 7, 2015, AliExpress issued new rules for the entry threshold of the entire platform. At present, all merchants must enter AliExpress as enterprises. The platform no longer allows individual industrial and commercial households to enter, and merchants must have brands. In other words, the merchant entry standards must meet two conditions, namely corporate identity and brand.

2. AliExpress store types

AliExpress stores are divided into three types: official stores, specialty stores, and franchise stores. All merchants need to complete corporate certification to access this business category account, and must provide a business license with a unified social credit code and a bank account opening license. The qualification requirements for brands will vary when applying for different store types.
