Facebook is currently the world’s largest real-name social networking site, and its Chinese name is translated as “Facebook”. It was created in February 2004 and has users all over the world. In order to attract more users, Facebook now supports more than 70 languages around the world. The total number of monthly active users of Facebook’s social platform has actually exceeded 2.2 billion. Among them, Facebook’s monthly active users are 1.3 billion. About 1 billion people use Facebook on their mobile phones. About 829 million people use Facebook every day. On the Facebook social platform, the number of followers of public figures is about 800 million.

Currently, more than 90% of well-known brands have their own pages on Facebook. B2C cross-border e-commerce companies that have established pages on Facebook include AliExpress, LightInTheBox, DX, etc. In addition, the way of using Facebook to promote products in overseas markets has begun to be applied by many e-commerce operators.

There are two main purposes for cross-border e-commerce companies to use Facebook for marketing: one is to shape the brand image of the company and products, attract more fans, and thus convert the fans’ attention into the company’s sales; the other is to use Facebook as one of the company’s advertising platforms, reasonably use Facebook’s advertising functions, attract more users, and improve the company’s return on investment.

① Attract users

Use the Facebook search function to search for the user “AliExpress”, and select the user who is close to your target from the displayed users to view their specific information until you find the target customer. You can send a message to the user or add him as a friend, and even further explore the user’s other friends to continuously expand your business circle.

② Enhance corporate image

When promoting, companies can create or participate in activities through the “Activities” function in Facebook to expand corporate connections and product channels.

A. Participate in activities. In the activities, you can view recent surrounding activities. Companies can choose to participate in and live broadcast related public welfare activities or theme activities to enhance their corporate image.

B. Create activities. Click “Create” in the upper right corner of the event page and select the type of event you want to create. There are three types: private, group and public events. Private events are invitation-based and suitable for private gatherings of friends; group events are mainly conducted between teams and organizations; public events require advance preparation and release of ticket purchase URLs, as shown in Figure 7-35. The successful creation and organization of an event can help companies quickly gather people and gain connections in a short period of time.
