Five prohibitions on international postal parcels and shipping precautions
With the rapid development of economic globalization and Internet technology, the cross-border e-commerce industry is experiencing unprecedented growth. This trend has prompted consumers to shift their shopping habits from offline to online. For merchants involved in cross-border e-commerce, it is particularly important to be familiar with and comply with relevant rules. Among them, international postal parcel is an economical and wide-covering international express service, and its operating specifications are directly related to whether merchants can successfully deliver goods to customers.
The five prohibitions on international postal parcels are as follows:
- It is strictly prohibited to send explosive items: items such as explosives, gunpowder, firecrackers, etc. that may cause serious damage to postal transportation and receiving personnel, facilities and equipment.
- It is strictly prohibited to send flammable items: including but not limited to flammable substances in liquid, solid or gas form, such as paint, solvents, liquefied gas, etc.
- It is strictly prohibited to send corrosive items: such as chemicals, acids and alkalis, and other highly corrosive materials.
- It is strictly prohibited to send toxic items: Toxic chemicals, harmful biological products and other substances that may pose a threat to people, animals and the environment.
- Sending contraband is strictly prohibited: Covers various illegal items such as drugs, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, etc.
The above ban was enacted by the International Postal Union (UPU) to ensure the security and stability of the international postal system. Any items found in violation of the above regulations will be subject to strict penalties. Therefore, senders should fully understand the relevant regulations before preparing to mail items to avoid unnecessary trouble caused by mismailing.
In addition to the above prohibitions, China Post Parcel has specific terms of service that need to be followed:
- The weight of the postal package shall not exceed 2 kilograms (except for Afghanistan).
- In terms of package size, the sum of length, width and height of non-cylindrical goods shall not exceed 90 cm, and the longest single side shall not exceed 60 cm; the minimum size requires that the length of one side shall be greater than or equal to 17 cm, and the width shall be greater than or equal to 10 cm.
In actual operation, sellers can choose two methods: registered mail or surface mail. Although the registration service is more expensive, it provides full tracking capabilities and is especially recommended for high-value goods.
Finally, I would like to remind all cross-border e-commerce practitioners that when handling international parcels, you need to pay attention to details such as correctly filling in the recipient information, selecting the appropriate mailing option, and paying the corresponding postage. By strictly adhering to all regulations, you can maximize the safe arrival of your package and maintain the good reputation of your business.
