Detailed explanation and precautions for Meikeduo’s self-delivery and overseas warehouse delivery
The difference between Meikeduo’s self-delivery and overseas warehouse delivery
As one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Latin America, Mercado Libre provides sellers with two main delivery methods: self-delivery mode and overseas warehouse mode (Fulfillment by Mercado Libre, referred to as FBM). The self-shipping model allows sellers to handle the packaging, logistics and other matters of the goods themselves, while the FBM model allows Meikeduo to be responsible for the delivery. Both models have advantages and limitations.
Self-delivery model
The self-delivery model requires the seller to deliver the goods domestically to the buyer’s delivery address after the buyer places the order. This model works for multiple sites, such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and more. For the Brazil and Colombia sites, currently only the self-delivery model is provided. The Mercado Libre platform specifies logistics and ships from China. Delivery is usually completed within 25 working days.
Advantages:
- No need to stock up in advance: The self-delivery model does not require the preparation of large quantities of stock in advance. It can purchase and ship goods based on actual orders, reducing inventory pressure.
- Flexible and diverse delivery channels: The self-delivery model can choose suitable delivery channels according to different situations, providing greater flexibility.
- Sellers will ship when the order volume is small: When the order volume is small, the seller can ship the goods in person, reducing reliance on logistics and providing better customer service.
Disadvantages:
- Time limit: The self-shipping model takes a long time overall, and it may take a certain amount of time to deliver the product to the buyer, which affects the buyer’s experience.
- Lower traffic weight: Compared with models such as FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), self-shipping sellers have a lower traffic weight on the platform, which may affect product exposure and sales.
- Too many orders may cause problems: When there are too many orders, sellers may face problems such as reduced shipping efficiency and logistics delays.
Overseas warehouse model
In the overseas warehouse model, Meikeduo is responsible for distribution. Sellers only need to package the goods and deliver them to the overseas warehouse designated by the platform. The platform will be responsible for subsequent warehousing, sorting, packaging and distribution. In the overseas warehouse delivery model, sellers manage independently in the early preparation stage, and after the goods are delivered, the platform is responsible for subsequent operations.
Advantages:
- Efficient delivery: The delivery time from overseas warehouses is usually very fast, and it usually takes 1-2 days to deliver the goods to the buyer.
- Reducing inventory pressure: The overseas warehouse model can reduce sellers’ inventory pressure and increase order processing speed.
Disadvantages:
- Higher cost: Compared with self-delivery, the cost of the FBM model is slightly higher.
Package size and weight restrictions
On the Meikeduo platform, different sites and regions have specific regulations on the size and weight of packages. Sellers need to strictly adhere to these regulations to ensure a smooth delivery process.

Shipping operations and packaging requirements
No matter which shipping mode you choose, sellers need to understand the specific shipping operations and packaging requirements.
Shipping operations
- Sync orders: After authorization is completed, orders will not be automatically synchronized. You need to manually enter the pending/pending status, and then click to synchronize the order.
- Historical order synchronization: Newly authorized users can synchronize historical orders in the past month.
- Order status: Only orders that are in pending/pending status will be synced.
- Order editing restrictions: Order products do not support editing, adding products, adding gifts, merging or splitting.
- Shipping import: Shipping information can be imported, but shipping methods that manually enter the courier number or do not print the courier bill are not supported.
- Batch printing restrictions: Meikeduo does not support batch printing of orders from different stores.
Packaging requirements
Different categories of goods have some special requirements in terms of packaging:
- Sharp, sharp or blunt objects: such as scissors, tools, metal raw materials, etc. Requirements: Use bubble wrap or similar material for individual packaging, and make sure both ends are covered and reinforced to prevent accidents.
- Fragile goods: such as glass products, dishes, mirrors, glasses, paintings, etc. Requirements: First wrap with bubble wrap or similar material, then individually package and label the product. When assembling into the packaging box, stack the products firmly, indicate the number of individual items in them, fill the packaging box with fillers such as foam, and mark it as fragile on the outer packaging.
- Textiles and small items: such as teddy bears, clothing, bags, towels, sheets, jewelry, keychains, etc. Requirements: Each item should be packaged in a transparent bag and labeled.
- Set products: Such as adapters, charging cables, headphone sets, etc. Requirements: The products in the set should be consistent with the packaging displayed and labeled with the products.
Summary
The self-shipping model and the overseas warehouse model on the Meikeduo platform each have their own advantages and limitations. The self-delivery model provides more flexibility, but requires sellers to handle packaging and logistics by themselves; while the overseas warehouse model requires Meikeduo to be responsible for distribution, reducing the workload of sellers. Understanding these modes and their operational details can help sellers better manage orders and inventory, and provide efficient order processing and inventory management. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these points and liaise with relevant parties when needed to ensure smooth order and inventory operations.
