There are two types of cargo collection at the shipside: self-collection and forwarding.
(I) Self-collection
(1) The consignee shall contact the trailer to pick up the goods at the wharf or terminal designated by the shipping agent with the small bill of lading.
(2) The guarantor shall go to the container management department to handle the container deposit settlement procedures.
For LCL cargo, it is necessary to go to the shipping company or shipping agent to sign for the bulk bill of lading (sub-bill). When picking up the goods, use the D/O and sub-bill to pick up the goods at the wharf.
(II) Forwarding
Forwarding means asking the forwarding unit to transfer the goods to the designated destination and hand them over to the ordering or user for signature. Things to note when forwarding:
(1) If the packaging of the forwarded goods is intact, the number of pieces is consistent, and the appearance is not altered, it is generally not necessary to apply for inspection at the port, but to carry out commodity inspection transfer, that is, the customs will issue a transfer notice to transfer the goods to the destination for self-inspection or entrust the destination inspection agency for inspection.
(2) If the goods are found to be damaged, missing or have an appearance that is different, the forwarding company should obtain relevant documents at the port and keep a record of the damage.
(3) After the goods arrive at the destination, the consignee should go through the handover procedures with the carrier. If the goods are found to be inconsistent or damaged or missing, the consignee should obtain the carrier’s shipping record and directly claim compensation from the carrier or the person responsible.
