Unlike the platform, the discounts for Shopify independent stations are completely decided by the seller, including when to give discounts, who to give discounts to, how much to give, etc.
Making full and reasonable use of discounts is very important for Shopify independent sellers. Discounts are closely related to the shopping conversion of the Shopify independent station. After designing the conversion goals of the different stages of the Shopify independent station, you must use discounts reasonably to stimulate customers and try to turn the traffic of the Shopify independent station into orders. When using discounts, you should pay attention to the user experience during use, as well as the “pits” that may cause potential losses and customer cancellation of orders.
The discounts for Shopify independent stations are divided into discount codes and automatic discounts, which are introduced below.
Discount Code
First, log in to the Shopify backend and click the “Discount” button.
Then, in the “Discount Codes” tab, click the “Create Discount Code” button.
Finally, enter the page to create a discount code, which includes the following details.
(1)Discount code and type. Discount codes set here will be visible to your customers and will need to be entered manually during checkout. This discount code should be set as simple and easy to remember as possible. For example, if you do a promotion during the holidays in the target market and send emails to old customers to promote the event, you can write the discount code into the email. Assuming that the discount code is “holiday”, the customer needs to manually enter “holiday” at checkout before the order will be discounted, otherwise there will be no discount. I have done many different discount code campaigns and think the easiest and best type of discount to use is a percentage discount. Of course, you can try other types of discounts as well.
(2) Value sum applies to. If the selected “Type” is “Percent”, then in the “Discount Amount” text box, you need to set the amount of discount. If you fill in 10%, you get a 10% discount, if you fill in 20%, you get a 20% discount, and so on. The “Apply to” selection has 3 radio buttons, you can select one according to your needs.
(3) Minimum requirements and customer qualifications. The “Minimum Requirements” selection has the following 3 radio buttons.
None: None means that there is no amount or product quantity requirement for the discount code, which means that no matter which product the customer buys or how many products they buy, the discount code can be used.
Minimum purchase amount: As the name suggests, the minimum purchase amount refers to how much money a customer has to spend to be eligible to use this discount code.
Minimum product quantity: The minimum product quantity refers to the number of products that meet the requirements that the customer must buy to be eligible to use this discount code.
There are also 3 radio buttons in the “Customer Qualification” selection. Except for the “Everyone” radio button, the other two radio buttons need to be set separately.
(4) Usage restrictions and effective date. The Usage Restrictions selection has two checkboxes. Generally speaking, check the “Once use per customer” box. In the “Effective Date” selection, you can choose based on the actual situation of using the discount code.
Before saving the settings, you need to check whether there are any problems with the summary. If there is no problem, click the “Save Discount Code” button so that the discount code will take effect.
